Yep, count me in on this one.
Circuit City flyer for this week (June 22nd to the 28th) has Gears of War PC for $19.99.
Hell yea!!!

Avoid. There's a common stuttering problem that has never and I guess will never be patched out.

Was this issue on the X360 version, too?
-
No.

No.
Okay, that's a major WTF then.

Yep.

There's a lot more, but I didn't feel like posting it all.

This is the newest patch, from March '08. (http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/3/2/a32f9a78-bdd0-4f9c-b283-9be53a283b46/GearsTU.exe)
As far as I know, this didn't fix the major stutter issue as people still moaning about it on the boards (http://gearsforums.epicgames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15), either.
I'm still gonna pick this up for the PC.
EDIT:
Looks like this has helped with the stutter issue majorly, for some players. (http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1031916035&postcount=24)
I would suggest before you try this, like anytime you mess w/ a Game's INI, backup original INI file with original settings somewhere else for back-up just in-case.

Have you tried this INI change, Scott?

I haven't tried any of the fixes because some people say it works, some people say it doesn't, some people say don't do it. There's no one fix, it seems.

Bah. That well...sucks!
EDIT:
Epic must be too busy w/ GoW2 on the X360 to fix this issue on the PC themselves for everyone, eh? :(
-
Who knows. It's been a problem since the beginning, since before even the first patch, which didn't address the issue. All that did was fix a problem with Games For Windows Live (good job Microsoft!).
My take is that Epic was all mad about piracy and refused to spend any of their time on it after release.

I think the magic price for me will be $10.
-
I lucky and haven't had to deal with the stuttering problem, although now that I think about it, my new card may make that an issue.
-
I had to use that INI-fix to stop the crazy-amount of stuttering. The craziest thing is -- the framerate's great, UNTIL it stutters; which is pretty much what Gothic 3 goes through currently on my PC...
Got GoW PC on 1024x768, most stuff on High -- runs and looks great. Plays great, too.
So far, I like it quite a bit -- been playing the SP portion. Action's awesome.

I don't think the stuttering thing is really related to PC horsepower. I've had it happen on all kinds of settings. And it's not the normal kind of low framerate stuttering you get when you don't have a good enough PC to run a game well.
-
Yeah, that's kind of why I was worried that my card upgrade may bring on the stuttering for me. I'm pretty sure I know exactly what kind of stuttering it is and I'm pretty sure I've never come across it in GoW. Quake 4 and Riddick are another story.
