Title: Kinda wish I had Vista to do this
Post by: PyroMenace on Wednesday, July 09, 2008, 02:45:50 AM
Turn Your Xbox 360 into a Streaming Netflix Player. (http://lifehacker.com/396881/turn-your-xbox-360-into-a-streaming-netflix-player) Sounds pretty neat, watch movies instantly, Id probably do it if I had Windows Vista. Though I also hear that I doesnt look good on big screen TVs, I guess that makes sense, streaming to such high quality like that is nonexistent, but we're getting there.

This piqued my interest as I just saw Attack of the Show last night talking about the Roku and that I have a Netflix account and Windows Vista.  But it turns out you have to have Ultimate or Home Premium.  I have Business.  :(

I've got windows home premium , a 360, and a Netflix account.  I'll give this a try and let you know how it is.  The video quality of the streaming netflix movies isn't always all that great with my marginal broadband connection.  still, the whole concept is pretty cool.

The biggest complaint I know I would have is the selection.  In my Netflix queue, which is just shy of 200 movies, I think there are like 11 I can watch online.

It'll probably take a while for that to really get momentum.  Once more people get on board and more headway is made in terms of general availability, I think it'll be worth looking at, but right now it's just more trouble than it's worth.

Microsoft is punishing you for not spending enough money.

Bah, well nevermind that little plan.  That plugin is a buggy piece of shit.
