Custom firmware is a go! Now for some fun!
-
Congrats! You are officially part of the cool club. In fact, I think there's only two of us. iP might have done it (see, I'm finally starting to not call him JB now), but if so he's the only other one.

I haven't used my PSP in about a year now so it just sits there collecting dust. I did use custom firmware for a period of time, but I found it overrated as homebrew software was for the most part nothing spectacular. In the end I went back to legitimate firmware.
I believe Cobra uses custom firmware as well.

I don't think Cobra ever made the leap. And I think the PSP homebrew scene is awesome, myself. The emulators alone make it well worth the trouble, but there are a number of other decent applications and original games out there (and ports of other stuff like Cave Story).

i've been using custom firmware on mine for quite a while. as que mentions, the emulation options are awesome.

Oh, hell yes. I've been using custom firmware forever. The leap I didn't make was past 2.1 or so. I still have my 1.5 system with the DH stuff to emulate the higher hacked firmwares from the memory stick. I didn't move on to the current way of doing things, or the 3+ versions because I stopped caring. I've brought my PSP out of retirement recently so my daughter can watch movies in the room she's staying while she's here.

Im loving this thing now. Ive got every NES game you could ever want, a some GBA games, couple Genesis, I'm going to put the CPS2 emulator on it to play the Dungeons and Dragons arcade games, and Ive ripped a Gran Turismo 2, Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Solid, and Vagrant Story to it. Its totally awesome.
I just found some homebrew games to try out as well, so Im downloading them.

Don't forget the near perfect port of Cave Story!

Yeah, Im rocking that as well. Good times.
