They're giving away the Deadline mode of this game as a demo, and it's a fine free game. Score as much as you can in 3 minutes. Unlike the first game, I feel no urge to kill myself if I lose a life. You don't lose the multiplier, which you rack up this time by collecting these little green polygons that enemies drop when you kill them. Scoring is very dependent on the multiplier once again.
You get a local high score and a history of your last several scores. My best is 3,709,395. I think several of you should be able to beat this. I have a tough time with the speed of the game, and I'm not going to make the mistake of buying it this time.

Interesting. I never really gave the first game enough time. Like you, I can't see myself buying a sequel, but I might be inclined to give a demo a whirl.

I gave the game a try tonight, and it's alright. Don't know if I'm gonna spend 800 points on it though or not.

This is very cool. (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/04/see-what-youre-doing-wrong-with-geometry-wars-3d-camera/) You get to fly around the frozen grid and see how much more dimensional it all is than it seems. It works in the trial version too.

This game is awesome. The inclusion of your friend's scores in the menu was a stroke of genius for them. Some really nifty new modes and achievements. I see myself playing this for a long time.
