I just finished a run through the game and the ending portions are really sweet. They did a lot of work to the last levels and they really work to reinforce what is great about the old Capcom games while adding more content that seems specifically tailored to the fans.
This is a semi-spoiler, but it's more of bit of fun if you remember the original and like knowing how certain things were handled before you play:
It's worth noting that the game is rated M, but if you look at screenshots, movies, or even play the game about 99% percent of the way through you'll probably have no idea why. That rating was most likely the result of a single moment in the game, and a completely awesome one. If you finished the original, you should know what that is. It's sorta funny that they were willing to keep that single bit in for the rating, but it also sorta shows what the project really was: an exercise in pure nostalgia and a gift for the fans.
You mean the part where dude's head explodes? Because that would be just awesome.
