Title: We will be old guys.

<@Quemaqua> It's going to be even weirder if we chat about similar things on IRC 10 years from now, and look back and wonder where our youth went.  We can be creepy old men... digitally.  Which makes it even creepier.
<@idolminds> hahaha
<@idolminds> I wont wonder where my youth went. I already know.
<@Quemaqua> "God damn kids!  Stay off my firewall!  And turn that streaming .FLAC down!"
<@idolminds> streaming blu-ray
<@Quemaqua> heh
<@idolminds> you know, its going to suck if everything is some online service
<@idolminds> I like owning shit
<@Quemaqua> Yeah.
<@Quemaqua> I agree.
<@idolminds> My kids will be like "Ewww, dad! Physical media? Are you from the stone age?" Then I will cancel the internet service and be all "Wheres your god now?!"
<@Quemaqua> hahaha

Yeah, you'll be so old in 10 years.  You'd better start planning for dentures and walkers before then.

...being 27 depresses me to no end.  I'm not even joking.

I went through 2 of those lifetimes, and I'm still all here.  So I have no sympathy for age worries at 27.

The problem is that the world is getting old with us.  If I live to be your age, Cobra, I'll be thrilled.  I'm not even saying you're old, either.  At this rate, if I live to be 40 I'll be amazed.

Don't even dream it.  40 will get there way sooner than you expect.  If you're smoking, cut it the hell out.  You should be a fine young man at 40.

"Should be" and "are" are two entirely different things.  I should be a fine young man now, but I'm not.  Whatever I should be at 40, I'm guessing I'll come up a little shy.

Like... I should be in bed right now.  Should be.  But am I?  Not so much.  And the reason for that, of course, is because I put off sleeping every night, as it only means I have to go back to work faster.

Getting older is crap.  For me, the years just move faster and faster.  In the time it took me to hit 15 from 10, I could fit four dozen's worth of the time it took me to hit 25 from 20.  It's bullshit.

I'm pretty sure this has already happened and you just don't realize it.

I never really started "feeling old" until I turned 29.  Now I'm 30.  I've just sort to come to accept that "settling down" is ok, and that you have less time for fun stuff, more expenses, etc.  It's not a big deal, really.
