Tiberium Cancelled [September 30, 2008, 3:33 pm ET] - Viewing Comments
Electronic Arts suspends work on 'Tiberium' game has word that Tiberium has become a high profile victim of EA's re-emphasis on creating quality games, as the first-person shooter based on the Command & Conquer series has been cancelled outright. "It is with a heavy heart that I announce the end to all work on 'Tiberium,' effective immediately," is a quote from EA's Mike Verdu, who goes on to offer the general reasoning: "The game had fundamental design challenges from the start." Word is the cancellation of the game, which had about a year to go before release following a recently announced delay (story), will cost some developers their jobs, though how many are not specified.

"Fundamental design challenges" = "We had the C&C universe to work with"
No skin off my back. I loathe EA, Westwood Studios, and the C&C franchise. Honestly I'd never even heard of this game.

I don't recall hearing about it, either. I don't hate the games exactly, but I'm not really a fan. And obviously after the move to EA I'm not terribly interested.

I was aware of it (coulda sworn there was a thread here about it) but I can't say I was looking forward to it. No loss for me either.
EA is shameless when it comes to bastardizing franchises. I wouldn't be surprised if right they were laying down plans for a Crysis RTS game.

i love the c&c games, but the last attempt at a c&c fps, well - it pretty much sucked balls. i don't think anything of value was lost here.
