Man finds £10,000 in McDonald's meal
A Belgian man who ordered a burger from a McDonald's restaurant was amazed to find £10,000 cash in the same bag.
Marco Parra-Martinez, 23, ordered his meal from a McDrive restaurant in Waterloo, reports Het Laatste Nieuws.
Inside the paper bag, as well as his burger, was an envelope containing 15,000 euros, the equivalent of more than £10,000.
"I hesitated one moment, asking myself if I shouldn't keep the money," admitted Mr Parra-Martinez. "But my parents taught me to be honest at all times."
So he returned the envelope to the restaurant.
McDonalds said the cash was restaurant takings that had accidentally been put down next to Mr Parra-Martinez's order. They promised him a reward for his honesty

(Let's make it five for five, Pug. :))
*Smacks face* A reward? Oh, my aching wallet . . .
Actually, I probably would have returned it too, but I would have made completely sure first who it is it belonged to.
Edit: I can't count. It's six for six. Oy.

Good for him, I doubt that many people nowadays would have actually returned it.
-
"Damnit it I ordered without lettuce! I want....wait a second. Nevermind."
-
good for him? mcdonalds make enough money, i'd consider it a karmic gift.
-
Yea it is probably how much that one MCDonalds made in one day.

My point exactly ;D

what a wank..i would have kept it in a heartbeat

Likewise. I consider myself honest in general, but I'm also poor. I think I'm more poor than I am honest at this point.

Someone once told me:
If you find a wallet and return it, you're honest. If you find a wallet and return it with the cash inside, you're stupid.
-
I would have returned it. The guilt would have torn me up inside.
Edit: what kind of shitty restaurant management keeps an envelope with $10,000 in it laying around anyway?
-
15,000 Euros.

For me it depends on who's money it is, and who needs it more. If it's the corporation's money I'd take it as "karmic reward" and invest it wisely. However, if it belonged to an individual person I'd be inclined to hunt them down and return the money.
I'm all about honesty; it is the best policy. Given this situation it's more of a fortuitous opportunity. It's kinda like when you buy something and the cashier gives you more change than you expect; what do you do? Well, it depends on the cashier. If he/she was a bitch, then they warranted the error and the extra cash landed in my palm for a reason, otherwise I default to the honest response.
