But that's not why I am posting this. This is why:
Among Muslims, throwing shoes at someone, or sitting so that the bottom of a shoe faces another person, is considered an insult.
I seriously hate stuff like this. Ridiculous cultural "insight".
I must ask... in what culture or religion, is it not considered an insult when someone throws their dirty shoe at you?
CNN: You see dear viewers, in Muslim culture, throwing your shoe at someone is gravely insulting, so please, be sensitive to their culture. The next time you visit a Muslim country, be careful not to throw your size 10 Nikes at the first person you wish to greet. We know that's how we say hello in America, but it doesn't work there.
:P

Seems appropriate. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5D5oKEVqQJg)

I know exactly what you mean man. It's semi-hilarious that they chose to express it that way.
As an Arab Muslim I can tell you all that throwing a shoe at someone is not "one of the ultimate insults an Arab can make." It's exactly what it looks like it is: simply throwing a shoe at someone with the hope that the projectile shoe will impact the intended target. Preferably in the face.
It was impressive that he managed to lob both his shoes!
Bush should thank his lucky stars that wasn't a grenade or anything quite as deadly. Jackass.

He almost seemed like he was expecting it. He didn't seem surprised at all.
But then again, I'm sure that Bush has had plenty of things thrown at him over the past few years. I've got some tomatoes that I wouldn't mind throwing at his face if I had the opportunity.

Dude, erase that. We're already under secret service surveillance.

Was my comment too...saucy...for them?
....don't hurt me.

A girl I went out with in high school threw a shoe at me once...in front of like 50 people at a house party. And then she took the other off, walked up to me and hit me in the head with it around 5 times. I ripped it out of her hands and threw both shoes out the window into a massive pile of snow....and then got in a fight.
You know, if I could go back, that whole night is one of those things I'd handle very differently.

I thought it meant, "Good job, my country is so prosperous I can afford plenty of shoes!"

Well, the only reason this guy got into the press conference was because he was a reporter.

And he had shoes...
Shirts and shoes required.

No I mean that's why someone with a bomb couldn't have gotten in.
I heard Oliver Stone did a good biopic on Bushy.
-
Oliver Stone never did anything good in his entire useless life.

EDIT - Also, WTF moment: Strategy First made a Platoon game for Windows in... 2002? Who the hell greenlighted that idea?
You can't beat shitty movie adaptations on C64!

I am not seeing anything aside from MOBY GAMES THE DEFINITIVE RESOURCE FOR PC GAMES
Hey, so you didn't like Platoon either? I remember you didn't like JFK.
-
Oliver Stone has made some very good movies but he's also made some very very shitty movies.
-
Bush's shortcomings as a leader are almost nullified when you see his superior shoe-dodging skills. That was seriously impressive.
-
PS: I'd take him for my dodgeball team.

For a man who's strung out on Xanax and painkillers pretty much 24/7, he sure can move.
-
I think it is partially because he realizes he is such a popular target. I bet he is always looking over his shoulder.
-
Who throws a shoe, honestly?
-
i saw a clip on the news and it was awesome. bush has got surprisingly good reflexes.
the guy who threw is kinda confused - he hates iraq side and he hates the other side too.. i wonder what he likes.

He probably likes whichever side isn't blowing up his country, so I'd guess... Holland?
-
He should move there. They have shoes made of wood for extra damage.
-
Turns out this guy is in trouble with the Iraqis. Not for throwing shoes at Bush, but for throwing them in the vicinity of Maliki.

I love how Maliki is AFK.

It is just a perfect little thing... whoever made it could have easily overdone it.

The matrix dodge has now become the default joke for everything.
