Also, Sony is really stupid:
http://www.psu.com/Sony-expects-Killzone-2-to-outperform-MGS4--a0006009-p0.php
They are just setting themselves up for disappointment.
Though in today's business world -- which has made lying and bullshitting into an art -- I can imagine these statements have been made to please shareholders/fans etc.
-
That's a little presumptuous of them.
I'm sure K2 will be great but I doubt it'll topple MGS4's throne.
I think you're right, they're probably boasting for the shareholders/fans.
-
Yea its BS and I think they know that, they just want some more attention to it so people can buy it and go, "OMG this is not better than MGS4." And then watching them being completely oblivious to that fact they got suckered.
-
Are they kidding themselves?
Metal Gear IP name has been around since Nintendo days, before there was Metal Gear Solid on the Playstation. MG and MGS is one of those franchises that been around forever.
Oh, and someone needs to say it -- long live Snake's Revenge.

GameSpot is holding off on fully reviewing KillZone 2 b/c they feel they need to give MP some more time -- as in a lot more time.
Since the "review embargo" from Sony is now over with, they have a 10 minute video here talking about the game and their impressions with it so far. (http://www.gamespot.com/news/blogs/review-blog/909185210/26768378/killzone-2-review-status.html)

I saw that vid a couple days ago. I was surprised (thought I really shouldn't have been) at the number of people yelling for "hat guy" to get fired for saying K2 had some questionable textures in spots, and that the controls had a slight delay to them.
-
Seems like it could be a fun game. Don't know if I'll buy it though... leaning towards not. Looks really nice though.
-
I would be like 99% sure to get it, if I had a PS3.
-
I heard some really positive buzz on a podcast or two a while ago. It seems they're doing some interesting things with it, but I've never followed any of it really.

No no no no no no no no no no no.
No.
I own the game and no.

Demo is out on PSN. I gave it a try and the graphics are amazing. That aside though, the gameplay is like every fps I've played before. From what I could tell, the story is uninteresting as well.
Reading reviews, it appears that the game gets most of its praise from its multiplayer, and that does not interest me at all.
I'm probably not going to buy this.

I picked it up over the weekend and have put a few hours into the single player. Maybe I just haven't kept up with the massive scale FPS like CoD lately, but I think this is pretty enjoyable. I'm not dying to get back to playing at any given time, but it has a certain level of intensity that I don't think many games capture at this scale.
Actually, in a lot of ways I feel like this is the game that Halo 2 should have been. While that may sound odd, there are a lot of things here that strike me as similar to this old ten minute trailer of Halo 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoqGLS1U6GQ) from some E3 that ended up being way cooler than the final game. Battles almost move and flow exactly like the stuff in the trailer, including the banter from other troops, moving from bigger skirmishes to close quarters stuff on the side streets, and larger "background" objectives like taking out distant artillery/AA positions. Of course, the visuals are different (and a lot better), but the setup of an invasion of a large sci-fi city remains the same (even if the roles are reversed). The funny thing is that Halo 2 ended up being a step down from the trailer and Killzone 2 isn't quite up to the level shown in it's first trailers. Maybe we'll finally get that game in four years or so. It seems we don't get things promised until a generation later anymore.
But yeah, I've enjoyed the game a lot so far. I've always wanted a FPS that centered around some sort of planetary invasion and this is feeling the bill nicely.

So I picked this up today for $30. Disappointed it doesn't have coop though.
Will pop it in soon. I bought it on impulse... hope it is good.

How did you buy Killzone 2 on Impulse?!
-
I had a feeling someone would make that mistake.

I had a feeling someone would make that mistake.
Well, you are talking about a PC game obviously :P hehe
-
haha... yea it was an impulsive buy. I noted that Killzone 3 was around the corner, so I thought I should play KZ2 at least. I still have a ton of quality games to go through.
So little time....
-
I had fun with it, I actually finished the game not too long ago. Though I played it on the third highest difficulty which was a nightmare at the end, and I still think the game looks good.
-
I think they're selling this in a bundle with DS3 controllers for like $5 more than the price of a DS3. Also, Infamous, LittleBig Planet, and something else I can't remember. The old bundles were Uncharted, GT5, and Ratchet and Clank.
-
Damn. If I were playing games I'd totally go pick up a DS3 with that. The game looked great to me.

WTF there is no such thing here. :(
