All of a sudden I have this urge to go back to the Homeworld universe. I never did end up playing HW2 so I think I may pick it up. Im doubting I can find it locally, unless the Gamestops here still carry PC games that old. Amazon has it for 22$ with free shipping, does Steam have the game where I can download and play right away?

I'd check for you, but that would require booting Steam, and that's something I just can't bring myself to do. I would highly, highly doubt you'd be able to find the game in any store, though. That was a pretty niche thing to begin with (though I did see it at Best Buy), and it was quite a while ago. These days I can't even find games that are months old, let alone years.

Go with the Amazon deal. I think that's all you'll find and I'm pretty sure no download services carry it.

If you don't mind waiting a week or two, I can give you my copy at the meet. I'm probably not going to play it "for real" anyway.

Gogamer has Homeworld 2 listed for $19.90 in a Jewel Case and with the manual.
Shipping costs not figured into this price... (http://www.gogamer.com/Homeworld-2-for-PC-Front-Page_stcVVproductId4760134VVcatId444710VVviewprod.htm)
Homeworld 2 is actually NOT listed on Steam...No surprise, probably b/c Sierra was once the publisher of this game. And well, we all know the history b/t Valve and Sierra was NOT pretty...
Though, THQ -- who now owns Homeworld IP actually and published many of the recent Relic games at the Retail Version level -- have been requiring Steam for some of their newest PC releases, such as DoW2 and Saints Row 2. Many of THQ's recent published games -- including recent Relic games, too -- have wound up with also Steam versions. (http://store.steampowered.com/search/?developer=Relic%20Entertainment)
If there is say a Homeworld 3 coming and THQ is publishing, given how Relic required DoW2 to have Steam and given how THQ's last few games require Steam period, I would NOT be surprised if Relic releases the old HW's through Steam, at a later said date -- whenever that might be, if that even happens.

Ah, man, what an enjoyable game. Single player was great, and I remember playing MP with cools a bit...coop against the comp. Good memories.

$20 seems like a lot for Homeworld 2.. It's a great game and all but how old is it? Shouldn't it be on GOG by now? :P
