Title: We should make a product placement adventure
Post by: idolminds on Wednesday, October 18, 2006, 01:37:23 PM: As a joke on this whole in-game ads thing.

Remember playing Monkey Island, when you talk to the guy in the bar about Loom and he just goes off on a pitch about the game with the word "ADVERTISEMENT" blinking on the bottom of the screen? Lets do that...the whole game.

We can use Adventure Game Studio (http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/9008/bf2142billboard2ha4.jpg) to make a short point and click adventure. Like, he has to go to the post office to mauil a letter. Something really basic and easy.

Our hero wakes up and remarks what a wonderful sleep he had thanks to the Tempurpedic matress. He goes and gets dressed in his Nike shoes, Levis jeans, and Tommy Halfiger shirt. For breakfast he has some Eggo waffles and rich, chocolately Ovaltine. You get the idea. Just go super overboard with the ads, throw in as many tag lines as possible.

But even better, have him use every one of those products and then remark about how shitty and awful it is. Like he eats the waffles and they're not cooking right in his toaster, then the Ovaltine makes him vomit, then his Nikes fall apart when he's running to catch a cab.

I've leaned more towards Adidas since Nike eliminated their ACG series.

So as a designer and an artist, who works often with advertising, I feel responsible for cleaning up advertising and keeping informative rather than intrusive.
