I ordered 3 RPG books on Monday. D&D 4E Players Handbook, Savage Worlds, and Mouse Guard. Of them, the one I wanted to arrive in the best shape was Mouse Guard. Guess which one didn't.
There is a 2-3inch cut on the cover. It looks like it slid against the inside flap of the box or something to cause it. Plus its missing the dust jacket which is supposed to have a full map on the reverse side. Not like it matters, since if it was there it would also have a nice cut on it.
So I have to return it. At least Amazon makes it fairly easy to do. Still, I really wanted that one to turn out nice. Tonight we're going to go to the book store and try find a local copy that I can look over before I buy it. Sure it's going to be $10 more, but I think it'll be worth it.
Side note: Savage Worlds arrived perfectly, and the D&D book only had a minor mark on the corner near the spine. Not enough to be worth bothering to return it. They really need to work on their packaging. Just a little foam sheeting would solve a lot of this.

I had ordered Open Grave from them, but it was one of the independent sellers. Got a huge discount (basically 50%) for what was basically just a ding in the corner. I also picked up the Manual of the Planes at full price at a bookstore just because I'm an idiot. But it wasn't really full price. I'm a member there and renewed my membership, so it ended up being I think $6 off or something. Not too bad.
I love game books. Especially these new D&D ones. They just feel so good to hold.
