Improved Cover System
Quote
IncGamers: How does the cover system work? Is it revolutionary? Is it something we've seen before in other games? Will we have destructible environments?

CL: I think it's interesting, because those two things work together in this game. That's what makes it a little bit more unique - the fact that you take cover and it's destructible, so you need to be very mindful of what cover you're taking and if it's solid enough to bear you. That co-relates to the whole down-not-dead experience where you're sitting in that cover, it breaks - "Am I going down? Can I crawl into other cover? Is it breakable? What's happening?" So in that sense the cover system is offering a little bit more intensity than what you're used to. If it's not breakable, it's safe, but if it is, you need to be very careful on how long you need to stay there. It gives a little bit more excitement in that department.

IncGamers (IG): How do you move from cover to cover? Is there a fluid motion of moving from cover to cover, or do you have to get up, un-hunch, run, hunch again, take cover?

CL: No, it's fluid. You can switch from one cover to other cover, you can run alongside cover, you can duck down and cover, get back up... you have fluid motion. You connect yourself with the button, and then you can do all sorts of stuff in cover. Rush out of it, vault over the cover... there are lots of opportunities.

Co-Op Is In
Quote
IG: Let's talk a little bit about the game mechanics. Will it have drop-in and drop-out co-op play?

CL: On a level basis, yes.

IG: But not through the campaign?

CL: Yes, through the campaign, but not in the middle of the game. On a level by level basis, you can drop in and drop out.

So, yes, I'm very interested to learn more about Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, thanks for asking. Of course, I would have said that about the first game before it was released, too.

Okay, I'm bumping this thread due to tons of shit going on w/ this Demo - which sounds like Beta-in-a-box.

Holy crap @ the huge-ass EULA that comes w/ the 1.5 GB demo. Seriously, WTH? I guess it comes w/ some Dynamic Advertising built-into the game.

You guys seriously should jump on Steam, click to install the demo, read the brutal EULA, then disagree w/ the EULA to cancel the install entirely. You guys have to read this - it's long and brutal thing. I don't thing I've seen a EULA this big, long, and nasty in some time.

And the Steam forums are a total mess w/ people having LOTS of issues w/ the demo - ranging from Emergency Reboots when booting the game to BSOD. (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=265&order=desc)

EDIT:
I'm going to copy and paste some of the EULA. Yeah, I know it's long and this is only a portion of it and whatnot, all written in legalese. But, really - read this crap:

5. Usage Data
Without prejudice to paragraph 4 above, we may from time to time during your gameplay collect information about your hardware system including how you are using the Software Product. This information may also include your internet protocol (I.P.) address (a numeric number assigned by your internet service provider to identify your PC).
This information may be used not only to help you play the game on the Software Product over the Internet (where the Software Product contains Online Features) but also to help us better understand how our customers are using the game, their behaviour and preferences, so that we can improve our computer games and services in the future. This information will not, however, be used to personally identify you without you being aware of it and without your consent.

6. In-Game Advertising
The Software Product may incorporate technology (which may be provided by Square Enix or third party service providers engaged by Square Enix(each a "Dynamic Advertising Provider")) which enables advertising to be uploaded into the Software Product on your PC, and changed while the Software Product is being played on-line. In order that the Dynamic Advertising Provider is able to direct advertising appropriate to your Software Product and geographic region, as well as to the correct location within the computer game, certain data and information will be may be retrieved and retained by the Dynamic Advertising Provider including your I.P. address, geographic location, in-game position, and information concerning the appearance of advertising visible during your gameplay (for example, the length of time an item of advertising was visible, the dimensions of the advertisements).

In addition, the Dynamic Advertising Provider may assign a unique identification number which is stored on your PC and which is used to monitor and calculate the number of views of dynamic advertising during gameplay. None of the information collected for this purpose including the identification number can be used to identify you. The technology employed by Dynamic Advertising Providers may be located outside your country of residence (including outside of the European Union). Where a Software Product incorporates dynamic advertising technology, the technology which serves the provision of dynamic in-game advertising is integrated within the Software Product. This means that if you do not want to receive dynamic advertising, you should only play the game when you are not connected to the Internet.

I checked out the demo and as expected it crashed on startup every time. I played with the settings and deduced that the Ambient Occlusion is the culprit; disabling it allows the game to run.

You know, it's always something w/ IO's games. With ALL the Hitman games, you basically had to disable EAX, if you didn't have a EAX-based card, just to get the game to even boot.

If I recall, you could only disable it through the damn INI files.

OMG @ Gamespot saying Story Mode (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/kaneandlynch2dogdays/review.html?tag=topslot;thumb;2) is only 4 hours short for K&L2.
Title: Re: Kane & Lynch 2 -- 3 MP DLC's announced already; SP is only 4 hours (8/17/2010)

I started playing this K&L2: Dog Days PC today - this game kicks-ass, so far.

The gameplay is much better and has improved over the original. Some of the new stuff - you now FREELY duck into cover w/ the press of a button; and when knocked down, you can on your own will slide, move, shoot, get up, move into cover; grab human shields; and there's even a hotkey to Highlight Items on the ground, where ammo and guns are on the ground [from enemies you've killed].

Graphics look pretty good, too - and run very well on my aging PC. Oh - and I like the whole new aesthetic of the shaky-cam and that it looks like it was done in real-time - it feels right out of the Michael Mann playbook of action movies.

It's a damn shame the game's supposed to be VERY light on content - not many MP modes and maps; and the short 4 hour SP campaign.

From what I've played so far - if you can find at Target for like dirt-cheap ($12.48) or less and you tolerate that the PC version requires Steam, what do you have to lose? *shrug*

Is it just me or do the guns in this game feel like pea-shooters and sound like cheap firecrackers?

Ummm...I think it's you...  :o

I just got through finishing the Story Mode - took me approximately 7 hours, according to Steam. Much better than the original in just about every single way.
