Title: Metroid Prime Trilogy
Post by: idolminds on Friday, May 22, 2009, 10:07:45 AM
Woo! (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/58752)

All 3 Metroid Prime games on one disc. MP 1 and 2 will be upgraded with the MP 3 control scheme. And the whole package is only $49.99.

God damn, I need to get a Wii soon.

What is the Metroid Prime 3 control scheme? How is it different from 1 and 2?

MP 3 is on the Wii, so it uses the remote as a sort of mouselook, if what Ive read is correct.

Can you strafe and look at the same time? :P

Yes.

I'll probably grab it.  I really liked the way MP3 worked, and I love the first two.  It'd be the perfect excuse to go back through them again.

Yes.  The pointer (remote) is your vision/blaster aim.  Very intuitive and nicely done, in the advanced controls mode.  The nunchuk in your other hand has the thumbstick for movement without turning, as in WASD PC 1P POV shooters.

This does sound cool, but I already own all 3 games, and played the hell out of them.  Probably better for a new audience.

The ability to look around and move at the same time, now possible thanks to the Motion Sensing Wii Remote by Nintendo (with optional Nunchuck attachment - sold seperately), could do wonders for any game played in first person. Before you know it people will be emulating it by adding look functionality to a second analog stick, a hardware feature that has been available for a while now but never used to this creative degree.

In all seriousness, I'd probably want it if I had a Wii. The lacking controls (which have sort of become a common theme for me) are what kept me from finishing Metroid Prime, or giving a shit about any other Metroid game since.

Might be a pickup eventually.  My copy of Metroid Prime is an original run, which means it randomly locks up on the elevator sequences.
