Title: How I don't want to die.
Post by: Pugnate on Tuesday, June 02, 2009, 12:53:14 PM
Just following the missing Air France plane news, and I realized that dying in a plane crash is probably one of the most frightening ways to die. After all the horror of a plane crash, sinking to your death in the middle of the ocean is a thought that makes me shudder. I guess I have a bit of a phobia when it comes to the middle of an endless ocean.

That and cancer. Two ways I don't want to die.

That's so sad, and yes frightening.  But the odds are so much in your favor on commercial airliners that driving a car seems like an insane risk by comparison.

Dying in a car crash is what scares me.  The chances of being mangled and trapped for a while seem pretty high.

Death by stupidity bugs me. Someone else's stupidity. Like a drunk driver or poor diagnosis. It's not so much the form of death that scares me just the circumstances surrounding it. This applies to me and the people I love. The hard part is that such a death could justify anger and revenge, especially in knowing that it could have been avoided.

I like George Carlins bit on airline annoucements.

"In case of a water landing... Am I somewhat mistaken, or does that sound like crashing into the ocean!"

Why did George Carlin have to die?

He was 71, which while old, isn't by itself a terminal age anymore.  I think he may have abused his body too much.

Ya think?  I miss him a lot too, but it didn't come as that much of a shock.

I was thinking the other day how much it would suck to be crushed to death, like by a slow moving ceiling or something. Yea, dont want that.

I honestly can't think of any way I'd like to die.  I really don't want to.
