Its fun when a game you never thought would be updated again gets an update.

Nice. Civ IV is a great game. I think the expansions bloated it to be a little too much though. Still, best Civ since II for sure.

Yeah, I liked CivIV. I like the culture feature introduced with CivIII, but there was too much emphasis on it in that game and military victories were basically impossible. I struggled even wiping out individual nations.
In CivIV, large-scale military success can be achieved but it's still not quite like the original.

Haha, really? It's so funny, I found it to be the complete opposite. I always tried to get cultural wins and found it utterly impossible. I loved the concept but could never quite make it work, but had much better luck with military conquest.
I never did get CivIV. I really wanted it at one point, but I waited so long I just wonder if I should wait for the inevitable next installment, you know?

II is still my favourite games of all time!

I just re-installed CivIV and downloaded the newest patch. When I went to install it, I was informed that I am already running v1.61. The patch idol links to is for the expansion Beyond the Sword.

Oh, I didnt know it was for the expansion only.
