Awesome!
EDIT:
Doesn't look like there's anything I'm looking for on there that is worth the price and the extra 20% off on. :(
-
I'm looking at the Sins mini-expansion or maybe Age of Booty. But Im still looking.
-
That's frickin' amazing!
This is a great way to acknowledge the client base and appreciate the paying customers.
-
Yea I was just looking on the impulse store. Thinking about getting Company of Heroes.

Not only did early adopters of Demigod who didn't return the game get a 50% off coupon (for a 2nd copy of Demigod, to likely give to a friend), now they're throwing them another 20% coupon, too?
That's just sweet.
Take notes, Valve and Steam.

I don't think Steam has a problem discounting games, they have great deals all the time.
-
Yeah, even I would have to agree there. If I liked Steam I would have jumped on many of the sales they've had.
So far I've been looking at these:
Larva Mortus
Caster
Flatspace
Astral Masters
Spectromancer
Age of Booty
Flock!
Hinterland
Braid
Gish
Starscape
Mr Robot
Space Rangers 2
Sins: Entrenchment
Some I've already played the demos, others I'm downloading the demo now.

Well, true enough -- Steam don't give extra discounts and extra coupons to people who own a Certain Game X, though. Impulse has weekend deals AND also is now doing this extra discounts and coupons for gamers who own Game X.
Steam just discounts....whatever for....well, anyone. Don't get me wrong, they do a good job with that --but, they don't go beyond that. I mean, has game owners of L4D gotten an extra coupon yet for any game they want on Steam?
-
Yeah, Steam doesn't give insentive for paying customers to stay. There's no real customer loyalty program or anything, other than "if you fuck with us we'll ban you from accessing your entire library!!" Which is more of a deterrent, really.
-
Well, they are giving discounts to Demigod owners in particular because the game was sorta broken when it hit. Its more than they have to do, yes, but you can't really hold Steam to that.
And in all fairness Valve has done some substantial additions to their games for free to keep people playing. Thats gotta count for something.
(what the fuck, Im defending Steam?)

Indeed. They have w/ other games that ain't L4D -- oh, such as TF2.

hahah what is teh world coming to?!!
I appreciate Valve's efforts, however small they may be. They had a reputation of supporting their games to extremes! I'm not sure how long standing that rep will be though, considering how they're handling L4D. I mean how long did it take for the Survival pack to come out? And even then it was minuscule.
SOmetimes I feel that we've demonized Valve a bit much, like any good thing they do the response is " 'bout fuckin' time bitches!!" And any other company gets a mild applause for typing in "Thanks to you The Player!" at the end of a credits reel.

I'm glad to see Valve release free updates for old games that been around forever and their newer games with say new Achievements, a map here, a game-mode there -- but Christ, L4D still needs MORE content for what its original asking price was ($49.99 on the PC, $59.99 on the X360) and since they said they would pump more content out after the game's release.
If they charged episodic gaming pricing ($19.99) or even expansion pack pricing ($29.99), nobody would've probably complained about L4D2 coming around the corner thus Nov. 2009.
-
Ok, lets keep the shitstorm about L4D in its own thread.

Okay, let's complain about Demigod then...
Ummm...Stardock, more maps, please? ;)
-
I'm actually surprised that I'm not really that eager for new stuff. I mean, I'd love to see some, but I'm not really bored with what's there yet, which I expected to be by now. But I really like the maps it shipped with.

Tried demos for eXtinction and Caster, but I dont think I'll buy either.
I've played the following before: Flatspace, LArva Mortus, Spectomancer, Age of Booty, Gish, Starscape, and Mr Robot. I might redownload the Larva Mortus demo because I'm sort of blanking on what it was like.
I do enjoy the Spectromancer demo. Its a card game by one of the co-creators of Magic: The Gathering. No lands, you just gain 1 mana of each color every turn. You get a random selection of 4 cards in each mana type that you then use to battle it out. It works quite well. Only thing is I don't know anyone else that would buy it so I'd be stuck playing AI. Still, not a bad option.
Same sort of problem with Age of Booty. Don't know anyone else with the PC version. That and the 5 activations thing still rubs me the wrong way, even on a $10 title.
So yeah, still trying to decide. Hmmm...I wonder if I can use it to preorder Elemental and get into the beta. *ANSWER* Yes you can. The download + retail box would take $10 off so basically its free shipping on the deal.
-
Idol, did you buy anything w/ the coupon?
-
Not yet, still going over my options.

I doubt I'll wind up using mine.
We got til tomorrow, right?
-
Will probably get Aztaka with mine.
-
I had a hell of a time deciding, but ended up buying Braid for $12. I've been in a platformer mood and it got rave reviews so I figured, why not?
-
You'll have to let us know if it's any good, Idol. :)
