Ta-da (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=63724)
I guess its some platformer with physics...or something. I haven't followed it that closely. Its supposed to be really, really pretty so the demo is probably worth a spin.
-
Reading other forums, this is getting nothing but praise. People comparing it to Lost Vikings since you switch characters with different abilities to solve levels. I really need to grab this demo.

Hows this for odd: PC version is twice as much as the PS3 version. (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/59321) $40 vs $20
Theres a lot of "blah blah" talk about it in the story, but I think I know why. PS3 version is PSN only, where the PC is getting both download and retail versions. I'm sure the publishing contract says the DD versions have to be the same price as the retail box. At least thats the only explanation I can think of that doesn't include screwing people for no reason.

FUCK YOU, SHITBAGS. Seriously. Fuck you in the face with a knife. I'm so sick of this shit.
-
That's what the underground store is for. It generally excels at fucking shitbags. I don't know if you can fuck these particular shitbags with it yet, though.
-
Heh. Sorry, I was having a really bad day (maybe to come in another post... maybe) and this just kinda' set me off.
-
Oh, I was agreeing with you. The choice of words is sort of fitting.
-
Well, I wanted to apologize either way. I was being a little... extreme. Which I have a tendency to do, but perhaps not quite to this degree.
-
The PC version is available on Steam for $29.99. Is that a universal price amendment or is it another one of those regional shit-deals?

Well, I tried the PC demo and Trine is pretty fun. The control scheme is basically like Abuse (if you can remember it). Basically keys to move and mouse to aim around you. After a lot of tweak I got the gamepad to work. The default keys were just wierd choices and it doesn't seem to support Xinput (X360 pad).
The key customization menu is awkward. There are 4 control schemes to choose from (Default and 3 customs you can set), then you have to choose which set you want to use in the options menu. That's just the first bit. If you try to bind an action to the key/button that's normally "Cancel" in the menu (in my case it's the B button) it backs out and cancels your changes. The only way around it is to bind the "menu cancel" command to another key, save, exit to main menu, then go back into config and bind the button then.
Anyway, beyond that the game plays very well via kb+mouse or gamepad. Quite fun for two or three players!
-
Shit, you just made me want to go play Abuse really bad.
-
Im gonna wait till this hits XBLA. Watched some videos and it looks gorgeous, would like nicer on the TV, plus playing this with a controller seems a better fit for it.

Retail PC version comes out next week. $20 (http://www.amazon.com/Trine-Pc/dp/B002I7KJ5O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1252081541&sr=1-1)

I'm miffed. I picked up the game just the other day and I'd love to have a box for it.
Oh well. The game is, at least, really cool. Anyone who doesn't have it should consider checking it out. Has kind of a Lost Vikings feel, but faster and with fun combat and lots of goofy physics awesomeness.

Trine has been finally released on PSN in North America.
I'm considering getting it, but I'm wondering if it is worth $20 as I'm hearing it's kind of a short game. Also, with so many big games coming out in a couple of weeks, it's tough to justify the purchase at this time.
-
It's pretty short. Around 5 hours or something I guess. Quite a fun diversion, and will be worth it to some, not as much to others.
-
Maybe I'll wait for a price drop or something... if it ever happens.
-
I'm not getting it till it hits XBLA, because PSN doesnt know how to accept billing information.
-
I finally decided to pick this one up for its full price. So far, I'm having quite a bit of fun, and thanks to trophy support, I should be able to get a decent amount of play time through it. The controls take a bit getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy to switch back and forth between characters and stuff. I'm wondering how the game plays in coop though. I'll have to see if any of my friends are interested in some gaming some time.
One thing that bugs me though is that there isn't a background graphic for the game in the XMB (though there is music), there isn't any Dolby Digital support in game, and there are no trophy graphics. I'm nitpicking, but when $4.99 games on PSN have all of these things, it's a little disappointing to see a $20 PSN title be half baked on its presentation front.
That said, I did a little digging and apparently in the EU, a patch remedied these problems. The developers are waiting for the patch to be applied in the North American version of the game by SCEA.

Trine is $9.99 this week on PSN. Definitely worth it if you haven't picked it up yet.
-
It's also $5 on PC through Steam.
-
Trine PC gets patched.
PC Patch 1.06 removes DRM from some of the retail versions of the game (Europe and NA). (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/63226)

Bump, its $5 on Impulse (http://www.impulsedriven.com/impulsebuys) this weekend.
