You know who you are. Songs marked with * may make your brain crap itself. Songs marked with ^ may make your brain crap itself for entirely different reasons. Songs marked with *^ may result in aneurysm.
Blotted Science - Activation Synthesis Theory (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sE6j4ntzaE)
* Blotted Science - Synaptic Plasticity (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtzb0FTN4BE)
^ Blotted Science - Night Terror (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPQ9Q5IUhcg)
*^ Blotted Science - Amnesia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7W5V2fSUMxc)
OMFG. Mind blown. You may know someone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Webster) in this band already.
* Coprofago - Crippled Tracker (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GMccyuQ2uE)
Coprofago - Hostile Silent Raptures (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO0zIE15rlk)
^ Coprofago - Wavelenght (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRPLRQnDLW0)
Ignore the disdainful comment about Meshuggah under one of these. These guys pretty obviously owe their entire existence to Fredrik Thordendal since half of their music sounds like it could have been ripped out of Sol Niger Within. Still, some of it ain't bad, and dudes have chops.
Spastic Ink - The Mad Data Race (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WjdpG7e2zg)
^ Spastic Ink - Mosquito Brain Surgery (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOuLJvk7Y34)
Reeeally proggy. Maybe a little too proggy?
Gojira - Love (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JF4XwUu0r18)
* Gojira - The Heaviest Matter of the Universe (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMmSc75sAqU)
Gojira - Backbone (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoUbeKKlo8k)
Hey look, it's music... and stuff. It's closing on 2:20 AM and I'm tired, don't expect coherency. Stuff seems to be of varying quality, but when it's good it's pretty damned good. And when it's average... it's pretty damned average.
* Extol - Ember (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bU_jyJLWCqU)
^ Extol - Confession of Inadequacy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8-SG4ThyHo)
*^Extol - Meadows of Silence (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d91AhUh0_uc)
You should be listening to them already. If you aren't, stop being stupid and go listen to them. At least the good stuff from the earlier albums.
* Lengsel - Revival (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FE8tspMXWsA)
Lengsel - Avmkat (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKugiqMYhOg)
Benea Reach - Awakening (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hOy13HXeEg)
* Benea Reach - Lionize (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPAcc42gjEE)
Related to the above because they're both projects involving members of Extol.
Cynic - Evolutionary Sleeper (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fhVLykF3nU)
^ Cynic - Integral Birth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNGCJzPzAp0)
I want to love it, I want to hate it, and yet... I can't seem to do either. I just listen.
*^ Isis - So Did We (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Awg99tk6vys)
^ Isis - Altered Course (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXMSY9gaA1o)
*^ Isis - Wills Dissolve (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EjFjUW_xN8)
Isis - In Fiction (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWTAkBRe6aI)
I'm pretty sure that the fact that I don't own this album means I should kill myself. Seriously, this is incredible and you should be listening to it, whoever you are. Isis's Panopticon should be owned and loved by everyone. Bear with the last song, the video. Video and song get more interesting about halfway through. It isn't my favorite, but it's an interesting exercise in simplicity.
Okay, I'm going to bed. I don't even know why I make these threads that 2 or 3 people at best will ever read. Seriously, why do I do that?

isis = awesome.
if you like stuff like that, you should check out caretaker and not just because i did the cover for their latest ep. the second track, impasse is my favourite.

Actually, they're pretty damned good. Saw a bunch of live vids on YouTube. How did you get involved with them?
Totally unexciting video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDkw0N_fc_c), but the song is dope.

me and the bassist became friends when we worked at a videogame store together. they've been reviewed very favourably by the mainstream rock music press (kerrrang!, metal hammer, etc), but their less conventional style and strict adherence to DIY hasn't done them any favours!
-
Nice. I'll definitely have to pick up some stuff and give it a good listen. I usually find myself disappointed with bands that sound "similar to Isis", but I like what I'm hearing thus far.
-
The Blotted Science stuff is really fantastic, need to pick an album up from them. Also I was having a total zen moment with Isis, I wasnt sure I was going to like it at first, but then as I was just browsing and stuff I was really digging it. Good music all around, you have a much better ear for catching good bands than I do.

Every now and again I just go on binges where I listen and listen. It's not quite like the old days, but I guess it's part of me wishing the old days were still here. My friend Paul (you met him that one night at the meet at Sy's house) and I used to stay up until 5 in the morning drinking and downloading stuff off of the original incarnation of Napster. It was amazing. Nothing will ever be like those times again.
-
I miss the original Napster.

eh, sorry for derailing - but caretaker just got single of the month in rocksound magazine (15.3 out of 10)! obviously very psyched for my friends, but it's also pretty cool to see my rather humble design printed in an international publication - even if it is only an inch square in size!

That's awesome, man. I still need to check out more of their stuff. Been too busy to really listen to anything lately.

That's awesome - well done. Also, you can now mention that your work was internationally published on your resume.
