Because they're *fucking* stupid-looking (http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/07/24/halo-clothing-by-marc-ecko-is-basically-unwearable/).

Wow, those are as crappy and lame as the games are.
-
I don't like 'em.
-
Wow, they look like the cheap printed shirts at the kiosks.
-
I could've swore Que made these, not Marc Ecko...
-
All for you, darling.

All for you, darling.
I should've figured as much...

I don't get what the style is with busy, shiny shirts all of a sudden. They're expensive as fuck and look like shit.
-
I don't understand why a gamer would be interested in a "designer shirt", or anything from a big name in fashion. It actually turns me off. I thought the game "Mark Ecko's Getting Up" was a joke, but then I saw it was a real game. I did a facepalm and didn't know what to say.

i think this quote from the article sums how i feel...
Video game shirts have to walk a fine line. Generally the very best ones are subtle enough that an outsider wouldn't know that it's a video game shirt, thinking that it's only a cool design, but a fan would get it and smile knowingly.

Exactly! That's what I love about them, it's the subtlety. Like my Splinter Cell shirt, it's just got 3 green glowing dots on the front, anyone who's not a gamer will think it's just a design but any gamer will see the familiar markings and recognize it.
These Ecko shirts are actually starting to remind me of the old Heavy Metal shirts, completely covered in each band's style of imagery i.e. Iron maiden, Metallica, Sepultura etc.

I have a shirt with a crowbar on it. I love it.
I think these kind of shirts will appeal to mainstream "gamers". Those douchy guys that play shit games because there is a cool commercial for it, watch MTV and listen to really shitty music and are devoid of independent thought. Their clothes usually reflect that. Those are the kind of people that wear, Marc Ecko crap, and will buy these ugly awful shirts.
-
What, you mean the people who now completely control the industry and dictate its every move?
-
Yeap...those are the guys.
It sucks...why do people have to ruin everything!?
-
I don't know, but it seems to be what they do best.
Oh well. We'll always have the glory days.
