So me and Que have decree there be a IRC channel for Overwritten, mainly just for game meetings and such, like our DoW mashes. For those of you who have Gaim, I found some instructions to set it up and I got it working. I just used my screenname for these instructions, you'll want to use yours.
1. Select Tools » Accounts
2. Click Add
3. Drop-down select Protocol: IRC
4. Type the screen name you wish to use as Screen Name: PyroMenace
* (You can easily change this later if someone else has this screenname.
5. Ensure that the Server: clanservers.us.quakenet.org is specified. (This is the server we will be using.)
6. The Password: must be left blank, as clanservers.us.quakenet.org is a public server.
7. Click Save
* Alias: and other options can be left blank for now.)
8. In the Accounts window Select PyroMenace@clanservers.us.quakenet.org and check the checkbox for Online
Once you have connected you can begin to participate, however, we recommend that you register your nickname.
NOTE: If you get a prompt reading NickServ: (notice) This nickname is owned by someone else and you have not yet registered, you will need to choose a different nickname (screen name).
Join the #overwritten.net IRC channel
1. Select Buddies » Add Group... and make the name of the group IRC. Click ADD.
2. Check Buddies » Show Empty Groups to make the IRC group you just created visible.
3. Alt-click on the IRC group select Add Chat
4. Select Account: PyroMenace@clanservers.us.quakenet.org (IRC) .
5. In the first textbox type in Channel: #overwritten.net.
6. Select Group: IRC
7. Click Add
8. Alt-click on #overwritten.net in your buddy list and select Join

Meh. I hate IRC. What's wrong with IM?

We've just had too many problems with IMs strangely. Googletalk doesnt have a conference chat and the bot that Idol tried to use didnt work much and MSN hasnt been working well lately with me or Sy. Since we know IRC to be reliant and it works with Gaim I thought we should use it.

What about Xfire?

You could always set up a chat session on MSN Space.. Anyone who's got an account could just create a group, and a chatroom there. Everyone else would just have to visit the site.
Though Xfire is great because you can chat even when you're in-game.

I tried Xfire for a while, I don't see what people like about it. I thought it was pretty awful. I like GoogleTalk a lot, and if it had a working conference option I'd use it without a second thought. Nice and simple. It's what I'm pretty much using now, along with MSN for the few people I talk to on there.
What does everyone have against IRC? It was basically the only thing we used back in my Quake days. Every clan was on IRC somewhere every night.
