Title: If you've been wondering where Dogma went ...
Post by: Quemaqua on Wednesday, October 25, 2006, 06:50:02 AM
... the answer may surprise you.  He is currently in Mongolia.

Anyway, I'm not sure how many of you knew he was going to be going there.  I'd talked to him about it, but I didn't know that he was already there!  Apparently it's his third month.  I shot him a message when I saw that he'd signed up on the boards here as I'd been wondering why he hadn't signed up sooner, and this is what I got back:

Quote
To tell the truth, I've been away because I'm entering my third month here in Mongolia.  As you might guess, when my internet activity costs per minute (granted not much) I'm kinda all business, though I did check up on you guys enough to create an account.  By the way, strangely enough I'll be doing a one month project on computer gaming here in Ulaanbaatar.  It's kind of like in korea in that it's cafe based, but people aren't completely batshit fucking insane about it.  Lots of addiction though, and horror stories about it affecting the youth.  I'm going to try to add a more balanced opinion to the discourse.  I have to produce a 25-50 page paper on it by the end of November, as well as log 120 hours of fieldwork.  Dammit, gaming won't be fun by the end of this!  Anywho, if you're curious to see some of my adventures check out my photos at http://ian.tedger.com and feel free to tell everyone else what I'm up to.

Hope you're well!
-Dogma

Anyway, so for any who were wondering, there it is right from the horse's mouth.  And I recommend the photos -- I know next to nothing about Mongolia!

What's the point of Facebook/MySpace, when you have forums like these?

Lets hope for his sake that he doesn't refer to them as "mongoloids".

You and the rest of the pretentious travelling world (including myself).  Nomads are nice people I'd say, but very hard to live with.  For one, the food is awful.  Goat or sheep meat, potatoes and onions.  The gobi is a hard place to live in, but absolutely beautiful.  Check out those shots of me on the sand dune for proof (I'M THE WHITE GUY).  It's a great place if you like riding horses, particularly tiny ass horses who are half wild and 100% crazy.

Anyway, if you guys have any questions about the trip, I'll have time to answer in the next week or so... ya know... if you care.
