Title: You know that zombie game we always wanted?
Post by: PyroMenace on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, 03:56:02 AM
Well it was in the works years ago, but it was canned. (http://gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/01/12/trailer-for-irrational-s-scrapped-zombie-game.aspx)

Division 9, it's a zombie game with a real survival RPG elements in it. Establish a base, go out for supplies, look for survivors, lay barricades, etc. And Kevin Levine was working on it. There's a video demo at the end, looks a bit rough and apparently your character doesn't know how to move faster than a crawl. Still though, how great could this have been?

Damn it... that was so epic.  Why the hell didn't this ever happen?  The art style was great... I can so see that as a full-fledged game with all the trimmings.

I'm gonna' go with Ken's lovely little placeholder voice work at the end there.  "You bastards!  Nooo!"

So, what the hell is stopping Irrational from taking these ideas and actually starting over from scratch and delivering this game?  :o

This is on how SWAT: Special Division evolved into Division 9.
From Irrational's site. (http://irrationalgames.com/insider/division-9-unreleaesd-zombie-shooter/)

Take-Two bought out Irrational - which is pretty much why D9 never fully happened. And from then, they worked on Bioshock.
