I'm wrapping up my undergrad this semester. Law has always held a special place in my heart, and I applied to a bunch of law schools a few weeks ago. The process is a pain in the ass. My first decision came in today: waitlist. It was one of the tougher schools, so I guess I should be happy that I'm within the right range (the school is rejecting people left and right), but still somewhat inconclusive.
Hopefully I'll hear more in the coming weeks. I hate waiting and not knowing where I will be living in a few months time.

Fucking lawyers.

I wish this board system had a hug emoticon!
O0
I guess I'll settle for that.

Sorry, I actually work with and know lawyers, so at this point I pretty much automatically have to wish that you were dead. But I wish you luck. For your sake, I hope there's no such thing as karma. :-[
But seriously... good luck. Sucks to have to wait on this kind of thing, but that's the nature of looking for schools and looking for work. Actually, there's probably not a whole lot that sucks worse than those two things. I remember looking for work for seven months back after United let everyone go. It was awesome to not have to go to work everyday, but looking for work was terrible.

Good luck to you!
I'm trying to get into Law right now as well. I've only applied to three schools this year and in this economic downturn, competition is quite fierce. We'll see if my credentials and academic achievements get me in.

I don't know if you can see that, but it looks like there's a lot of helpful advice in there from those who have been through the system.

It's public, gpw.
Good luck to both of you getting into law school. I know someone that just recently graduated from Syracuse and it's apparently a grueling process going through law school.

That's a great thread! Trust me, I'm not naive. I'm putting my chips out there this semester and seeing what happens. While I think that the is road I want to go down, I'm not entirely set on it by any means.

That's an interesting thread. Luckily it's heavily based on the US market. I believe it's a bit different in Canada. That said though, of all my classmates there's only one person I know who has graduated from Law.
I too am not entirely set on Law either. I'm currently studying for the GMAT and considering an MBA as well. Hell, if that doesn't work out I might go for my Master's.

In at Penn State. I'll consider it if they give me a boatload of money.

God I hate students.

So far, so good. I'm in at about 8 of my schools now. Best one thus far is Tulane in New Orleans (it's a Tier 1). It's in my top 3 dream schools. I haven't yet heard from the others. There are two other schools I'd consider going to if accepted. Otherwise, New Orleans, here I come?

Would there be any possible reason to consider a Tier 2 school over Tier 1 in law?

Being an international super-spy *is* significantly cooler.

and why would you want to study other's laws when you can make your own.

8+ schools? Damn, I thought applying for six plus an easy reapply to my current school for a masters was bad enough.
Also, Tulane is a tier 1 school in... anything? Back when I was thinking about the ungradate application Tulane kept sending me all this reqruitment crap and I figured any school that has to advertise like this can't be that great. I don't doubt that a particular division can't be great at any given school, but I'm still surprised it would be the case at Tulane. To be fair, I never even really considered going somewhere other than Berkeley, so never bothered to look into if the school was actually any good.

Yup, tier 1. And holy shit, there are a lot of universities in America. After my first year of my first degree I applied to the University of Arizona with a buddy and got in. At first it was like "Fuck yeah" because we had a free place of our own, which was a balling condo, and figured we'd have a great time. You know how much foreign tution is? A fucking arm and a leg. And a couple piles of money more.
