Title: The Haunted wins the Make Something Unreal Contest!

$50,000 and a full Unreal Engine 3 license, which they are going to use to put out The Haunted: Hells Reach! A commercial followup to the mod, kind of like what Tripwire did with Red Orchestra.

The final order was:

   1. The Haunted
   2. The Ball
   3. Angels Fall First: PlanetStorm
   4. Prometheus
   5. Hazard: The Journey of Life

The only one of those I havent tried is Angels Fall First, which looks awesome. I want to reinstall UT3 to check out the newest versions of all these mods.

Amazing stuff. The Haunted certainly deserves the win, among the many great mods out there!

I tried Angels Fall First: PlanetStorm, it was alright. It lacked some polish but it had a decent foundation. I'm not familiar with the AFF universe but I imagine I would have been much more excited if I had been.

I so want to see Haunted as a retail product.  But if it's Steam-only, I will find them and burn their genitals with fucking napalm.

I already posted on their forum asking them to not make it Steam exclusive. Though they did mention they are aiming at a $20 price point and want to release on PC and PS3. Hope that works out for them.

Well, it's out. Twenty bucks on Steam. Haven't looked at anything else, but the trailer looks awesome, and 8 big levels with 30 weapons! They advertise free future updates and DLC and it's moddable, has support for custom levels. And there's a humans versus demons multiplayer mode.

I really liked what they did before, more than I probably should have. I'll have to get this at some point.

The shit part? All I have now is my laptop. My PC's dead. Lame.

I noticed this showed up on Impulse as well but it doesn't say what kind of DRM it uses. Usually if a game requires Steam its pretty well marked but I haven't seen confirmation on this. EDIT: And its THQ? Things do not look good.

Its fun co-op, at least the mod version was. Would be cool to check out what they did with an actual budget.
