Title: Know anything about wireless network cards?
Post by: PyroMenace on Monday, May 10, 2010, 09:54:41 PM
Before we move into a house I wanted to get a wireless network card for my computer but know nothing about them, can anyone give me some recommendations on newegg or amazon?

I suggest something with a Ralink or Atheros chipset.  Other than that, it's really hit or miss, mostly miss.  Research cards heavily to make sure they aren't packet droppers.  Try to stay away from no-name brands.

I found this site (http://www.practicallynetworked.com/) helpful when I was digging around for a network card a while back. The user opinions can give some indication as to the quality of the product. Although I used the site mainly as a resource for detailed hardware info.
