Darkspore Beta now available on Steam! (http://store.steampowered.com/news/5194/)

Head's up, it's a 5.8GB download.

UPDATE:
Current impression: Darkspore = Spore meets Diablo!!

Basically you have heroes that you can edit in a very similar way to the Spore Creature Creator, and you then you get to engage in the campaign. Any genetic material and upgrades you find can be used to modify or improve your heroes in the editor.
