Title: Guillermo Del Toro is gonna make some games
Post by: W7RE on Friday, October 08, 2010, 08:36:38 PM
Here's him going on about how much he loves games (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNSCIeauiCM), mentioning Bioshock, Uncharted 2, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Left 4 Dead, Beautiful Katamari, Dead Space, Gears of War, Half-Life, and some others I forget.

And here's the story on GiantBomb about how he's going to be making games with THQ. (http://www.giantbomb.com/news/guillermo-del-toro-describes-series-as-lovecraftian-thq-to-publish/2593/) The games will be on a 3 year development cycle, with the first expected to release in 2013. The only info he would give is this:
Quote
"It's horror... but it's a very different type of horror game," he said. "It's not survival horror. It's truly a strange, geeky mix. It's a Lovecraftian thing. Let's leave it at that."

That story is actually about a week old, but I found the YouTube link and wanted to share it somewhere and saw no talk of his gaming endeavor on our boards.

That's awesome, I wonder if it has anything to do with the "At the Mountains of Madness" movie he's directing.  The Lovecraftian comment makes me think its possible, which would be awesome as hell.

Let's hope the games are better than most of his more action oriented movies. :P

That's great news! Guillermo Del Toro makes some of the greatest monsters in film!

Yea, I think he is better off doing films like Pan's Labyrinth, or being a art director. Both the Hellboy movies had some of the poorest action sequences and CGI use I've seen in film. Overall, he has some big weaknesses as a film maker.
