ZOMG NOT GAME X!
I know we talk about piracy and do mention when a game gets leaked. But what I wonder is why do the major gaming sites and blogs announce this information? Its not really news to the vast majority of gamers, and certainly not to the upstanding, non-pirating, DLC-buying gamer.
Its kind of weird. Crysis 2 being leaked this far ahead of release is sort of news. How does something get leaked that early? What can be done to prevent it from happening again? However thats not what the vast majority of articles on the topic discuss. Its a "PC Gaming is doomed and its all YOUR fault! You sick bastards are ruining EVERYTHING! Also, tee-hee its out and on torrent sites but totally don't go looking for it. Wink."

You know what can be done?
Everybody who pirates the game should force themselves to buy it upon release at full-price.

Yeah like thats likely to happen.

HIGHLY Doubtful. But, it would be nice...
I don't think anything can be protected, unfortunately.
The Internet is TOO ultra-connected.

All games should have a kill switch where if you install them before a certain date they'll format your drive. :P

Also, every woman should give me a blowjob whenever I want.
D, our fantasy world is really shaping up nicely.

Hahaha! :D
I've been thinking about the leaks myself. My feeling is that the modern development structure makes them more likely. A lot of work is outsourced, in particular testing. So a lot of underpaid people with no vested interest in the developer's business get their hands on game builds.

Also having huge teams means more people have access to the game.
