I've been using one called Twhirl for a long time now, but I think I need to find a replacement.
I just discovered a missing feature: support for retweets. It does support them, but it actually hasn't been updated since Twitter added support for retweets. So before, you would have to copy and paste the message and add something like "RT @yourmom" to the beginning. So this client does that automatically, but it doesn't show up as an actual retweet on Twitter.com. The reason this matters, is that I often enter contests over Twitter that ask you to retweet something, and if mine aren't showing up as Retweets, I bet I have no chance of actually winning.
What I like about this client is that it sits in my system tray and pops up a little notification when I get a tweet, and makes a sound. That way it's hidden unless I'm getting a tweet. I've tried TweetDeck, but it seems to lack the notification features that Twhirl has, and just seems to lack options in general.
Can anyone recommend anything else?

I use the echofon addon for Firefox. Little notification pops up when new tweets come in, and generally I have firefox open all the time anyway. When firefox isnt open I'm probably playing something and dont give a shit about whatever tweets are coming in. I'll read them when I open firefox again.
This is also handy when I'm playing a multiplayer game that I dont have a twitter client polling a server all the time.

What's Twitter?

I just use Twitter if I'm on the web. On Android, I use Plume.

Are you kidding? Its only the best thing ever to find out what a celebrity ate today!

Not into it at all, but it seems like a mobile application with notifications may solve your problem. Discreet, but still notify you when there's something new.

A mobile app? Nah, I need something for my desktop. I *gasp* don't have a cell phone.
I use twitter as a gaming news feed, by following the official twitter accounts of games I'm interested in, and some of the people working on them. This has gotten me plenty of news without wading through shitty ads on shitty websites, as well as the following free stuff:
Duke Nukem 3D XBLA
Gears of War 2: All Fronts Collection
Dead Space 2
EDIT: For example, @SuperMeatBoy is giving away XBLA SMB codes right now. I'd try to snatch one, but I already have it.

I tried to get into Twitter. I added a bunch of my friends and a bunch of things that I thought I would be interested in. Then I realized that it was just another inbox; I had to sift through (mostly) spam to get any type of useful information. I stopped checking it.

I'm not "into" Twitter, but I used it sort of for a few things. Mostly I use it to feed updates to Facebook, mostly for writing stuff at this point. I also use Echofon for Firefox.

Is there an app or something out there so if I wrote something on my Facebook account, it appears also on say my MySpace or Twitter accounts?
-
There are apps that will post your "status" to however many services you want, like Ping.fm. I dont think there is anything that will take your facebook update and spread it around, though. Facebook doesnt really work like that (they will take in, they wont give out).

Is there one where says it goes the other way around - posts my Twitter "status" on Facebook?
-
Yeah, thats what Que does. I never really looked into setting that up for myself, though.

I think that I've been on twitter twice. Both by accident.
When the word "Tweet" doesn't send me into an insane rage state whenever I hear it, I will be more open to the site. And that's not likely to be soon.
Besides, I have a Facebook account. Isn't the status update the same thing?

Yea, but you have to load up Facebook to get that. I just use a client, and when someone tweets something it pops up in the bottom corner of my screen.
Also, I guess because of how I use Twitter it's very different from Facebook. Well, I guess you could follow the Facebooks of all the places you want news from. I actually don't follow anyone I know on Twitter. It's all official game/game news feeds and people that work in the gaming industry.
