Screens and stuff (http://forum.maniaplanet.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1103)
Well, as long as it doesn't have the Ubisoft "always on" DRM then I'm all for it. That looks great.

So like...Wow. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hj7oVuHlFKs)
-
Oh, my nerves!! All those near-misses around corners!! That had me on the edge of my seat! Looks like a blast!
-
Is it gonna ship w/ that damn Ubi-Soft "always on" DRM?
-
I love Trackmania, and those visuals are amazing.

Nope! (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/08/12/trackmania-2-will-not-contain-ubidrm/)
I'm all over this game now. Hell yes.
-
Yes!
I'm gonna jump back into Trackmania Nations in the mean time.
-
haha, I just reinstalled it too.
-
I actually bought Trackmania United previously. All it really adds are some different cars, which all handle much worse than the car you get in Nations. If there is something else, I missed it or don't care.
In any case I need to get my PC set back up because I too am itching to play. Just wish I had a gamepad for it.
-
I wanted to get United but I never found it cheap enough. Plus I own all the previous TM games that had all those environments and cars, so its hard to justify paying $40 to play them all again. But then they are probably still played online with tons of custom tracks in United so...blast!
Of course now with TM2 coming along I might as well just buy those.
-
Most of the custom tracks when I was playing seemed to be all "free wheel" races where your engine power cuts out almost immediately and you have to coast to the finish. Obviously if you bump something you are screwed and that made it challenging, but it was annoying to have those kinds of races over and over again.
Still it could be fun at times.
-
I didnt run into too many of those tracks, though they can be interesting.
-
I might be better at Nations than I thought. Joined a server and ended up in the top 5 constantly, even got 1st on one map.
So if anyone wants to be my Nations Forever friend, name is idolminds. Wee!
-
"Always Online" DRM, I suppose...?
-
You missed my post where they said that TM2 won't have always on DRM. TM Nations Forever doesnt either.

No Boxed version planned and No Steam Version planned for initial release. (http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&boardid=1&threadid=124531)
A post on the ManiaPlanet Forums from Nadeo explains they are not planning a retail version of TrackMania 2: Canyon, saying: "There is no box version scheduled right now."
A separate post from Nadeo explains that their racing sequel will also not be released through Steam initially, though it may come to Valve's online service at a future time. Explaining that the game's use of the ManiaPlanet portal may be redundant with Steam, they refer to the possibility that users might have to buy a second copy of the game to achieve Steam integration in explaining that they don't envision making a decision on this until sometime next year: "So, if you really want it on Steam, I can suggest to wait of either see a change in their policy, so you can feel secure to buy it outside of it today or to wait to see if we go on it and all I can say to help is that if it happens, it is very likely to be next year."
Meanwhile, if you are interested in the game's multiplayer economy, This post (http://forum.maniaplanet.com/viewtopic.php?p=45676) explains more of the "planets" that replace the "coppers" from previous TrackMania game, outlining how you can earn and spend them.

Bummer about no box, but I'll probably get it anyway. Just take some time to download is all.
