Title: So when playing Castlevania: SotN:
Post by: K-man on Monday, May 23, 2011, 11:09:02 AM
Have you ever successfully resisted the urge to farm for a Crissaegrim and two Rings of Varda, becoming God-like in the process?

I haven't.  I fell victim again yesterday.

I think I played through it three times and only knew you could do that the final time.  Does that count?

I also had no idea about the inverted castle the first time.

I didn't know about the inverted castle the first time, but did the 2nd. And I've never done the Crissaegrim or rings because I still don't know how to get them and have made sure I never looked up how, thereby avoiding K-man's prolific problem.

I don't remember the ring, but the Crissaegrim was quite a discovery for me on the Xbox version.  (Never knew about it on the PSX.)  Once you have that, it's very hard to give up just for the sake of game balance.

I'd forgotten this little caveat:  In order to get Paranthropus to drop the Ring of Varda, you must have a cleared game on file. It will drop a turquoise otherwise.  It raises all your stats significantly, so when you stack two you become pretty much unstoppable.

Like Cobra said, it's very difficult to want to play through the game without the Crissaegrim once you've tasted the goods.
