Title: Ultima IV released for FREE by EA
Post by: MysterD on Thursday, June 02, 2011, 05:08:30 PM
EA released Ultima IV for FREE download. (http://www.ultimaforever.com/)
To run it, you WILL need DosBox (Emulator for old games). (http://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1)

I don't get it, why didn't they just release it on GOG.com along with Ultima Underworld. At least with GOG's setup we don't need to get the emulator.

Apparently all GoG does is use DOSBox anyway.  I didn't realize it was so highly regarded.  (Never have tried it.)  This way, I can give Ultima IV a look-see too.  I don't think I've ever even seen it before.

Yeah, which further confuses me!

The main difference is that when you get DOSBox individually you have to configure it a little, set up a faux drive "C:" and stuff. I used it for Rise of The Triad and Crusader: No Remorse, they ran beautifully.
