At first glance it looks like a really simplified Facebook.

Weird, so you can go to other people's profiles but you really can't do anything there except look at their stuff. You can't send them a private or public message like on Facebook it seems. Odd.
And I see a category "Buzz" on other people's profiles but not on mine. I've heard of Buzz and I'm familiar with the logo, but I don't know how to use it. I found something about Buzz from my Gmail and went in there and all that was there was just a few places I've checked in via Google Places on my mobile.
What's up with Google and all of their half-baked stuff?

If you post a message on your "wall" (or whatever Google is calling it), you can use the dropdown to dictate which circles it's shared to. If you type +JohnSmith it will only share to John Smith. That's sort of like posting to someone's wall on Facebook. It doesn't show up on their wall though, it shows up in your stream. That means they have to be viewing a stream that includes you (since it's possible to view only one circle's stream at a time).
EDIT: I just messed with it a bit. I started a post on my stream/wall/whatever with +FriendName and it popped up and thing that let me click his name. Then I wrote a message. It sent him an alert for it, and he came and replied. If you view your own profile (not your home location, but view your profile), in the upper right you can tell it to let you view it as a specific circle, a specific person, or as an anonymous user. This will show you who can see what on your stream. Only the friend that I designated in the post can see it. So if you want to have a private conversation through PMs, that appears to be the way to do it.

G+ still has a lot of bugs. I usually leave it open. Every once in awhile, I look at it and posts will be missing. I will refresh the page, click Streams, or click the Google+ logo and *poof*! They're back. Today I checked in at a place for the first time using the mobile app. On the full-fledged website, this shows if I look at my profile, but it doesn't show on Streams. Which would be fine except other posts I make show up on Streams, so the behavior is inconsistent.

I really like the circles concept but I can't see myself ever using this for anything. Perhaps I don't have enough friends on it yet but my stream is completely barren as the friends I have so far also don't seem to use it for anything.

Same here on both points. I like how the circles give you complete control over who sees what without making it overly complicated, but so far it's pretty empty. I've been posting stuff on Google+ and Facebook at the same time just to keep it lively.

It seems better than facebook on a lot of counts. It's still a social networking site where I feel compelled to post funny/witty/insightful things, but I am basically too lazy to post much of anything. So I probably won't use it all too much.
