My parents have HBO through Dish Network, so we have access to HBO Go. I decided to check it out, since I don't have a DN receiver hooked up in my room anymore.
Someone explained to me that the way movie stations like HBO, Cinemax, etc. work is that they pay for a 1 month license to show a movie. That's why they're always saying "this month on HBO" and then show that movie like 100 times. So when you get a list of every movie on just that one channel (browsing the movies on HBO Go), you see just how little there is. I watched like 3 movies, now I'm waiting for the 1st so I can check for more.

Yes. It's pathetic. My mother gets all the Dish network movie channels (HBO, MAX, SHO, etc.) and there are seldom more than 3 movies I want to watch on them in any given month. That's across all the channels, not per channel.

I wonder if some channels pay for like yearly blocks. I remember TBS would play the same 5 movies over and over and over again for pretty much ever.

Yeah, when I had H1N1 and was home for a week I probably saw Hellboy 2 on HBO 30 times.
