Title: Humble Bundle presents Mojam
Post by: idolminds on Friday, February 17, 2012, 08:43:17 AM
This one is very different. (http://www.humblebundle.com/)

Mojang (Minecraft) has teamed up with Humble Bundle for a charity/game dev event. For the next 60 hours they are live streaming the development of a brand new game, the theme and genre of which was voted on by people in the last couple days. The winner was "a real-time strategy shoot 'em up with a steampunk ancient Egypt theme". Yeah. So you give a little money, all of it goes to a selection of 4 charities, and you'll get the game they are making at the end.

Its a weird one. I might throw a buck or two at it just to see what the end result is. Maybe.

This is so weird.  I'm going to be throwing some money their way for sure just to see what they end up finishing.

Others are joining in. (http://blog.humblebundle.com/post/17794402045/oxeye-games-studio-and-wolfire-join-the-mojam)

Wolfire (creators of Humble Bundle as well as Overgrowth) is going to make a game with the same theme and genre as Mojang, while Oxeye (Makers of Cobalt, published by Mojang) is going to be doing the second place voted theme and genre...which is a dungeon crawler beat ‘em up set in a post-apocalyptic World War II.

All right, I gave a little. I just want to see what comes out of this.

Mojang already has a playable build of what they've done so far.  They are currently taking a sleep break before getting back to work.
