Title: Terraria development stops
Post by: idolminds on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, 02:52:44 PM
Moving on. (http://www.indiegamemag.com/andrew-redigit-spinks-says-goodbye-to-terraria-development-comes-to-a-halt/)

Some moved on to Starbound, and one of the others is just done with it/has real life things to do. So there will be another patch update and then the game is more or less "done".

Well that's a bummer. But it had to happen eventually. I thought it would last maybe another year, though, given the success of the game.

That sucks, but it was bound to happen though.  I am actually surprised the support lasted as long as it did.  Starbound is looking awesome though.

An interesting twist to the story. Gaslamp Games, makers of Dungeons of Dredmor, has offered to take over the project. Now it was just a tweet so theres really no more news than that, but wouldn't that be something?

Interesting update. The official Terraria facebook page announced the game is coming to PSN and XBLA.

Huh. We still haven't really finished up our time with the last set of updates.

I setup everything so I can start running the server again a week or two ago if anyone is still interested. We need to get all that god gear.

yeah.

Eurogamer (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-09-11-terraria-heading-to-psn-and-xbla-early-next-year) has a little more info. Looks like another studio is handling the port so I wouldn't count on any new content making it back to the PC.

I always thought Terraria would feel a bit better with a controller, so I'm really curious to try out the Xbox version.

The controls are just fine on PC, but the jumping and moving around felt awkward to me with a keyboard. But on a controller there might be aiming issues. I'm assuming they'll use the right stick to aim you attacks/digging/building.

Minecraft works well with a controller on the 360.  I think the 2D Terraria would fare even better.

Terraria actually just got a pretty substantial update (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nubZZSGBoUiuKFKzWT7raMrPI35MQtDWSsL-MbHFgqs/preview?sle=true). Also Terraria 2 was announced.

The title of this thread is funny now.  Terraria has really taken off.  Good for them.

Yeah I just loaded up Terraria again. They added a lot. Mostly cosmetic stuff I've seen so far, like zombies wearing rain gear.
