Title: Good Old Games now just GoG.com, to carry indies and recent titles
Post by: idolminds on Monday, March 26, 2012, 02:04:05 PM
Read all about it. (http://www.gamespot.com/news/good-old-games-shifts-focus-adds-recent-titles-6368125)

Pretty awesome.

EDIT
Seems like "recent" titles will be 1-3 years old. So I guess if you want DRM free you can wait it out.

Anyways - awesome news.

My question was meant to be left rhetorical.
Next time, I'll throw it [rhetorical] like so, so y'all know.
Sometimes, hard to throw my context and intent when you can't literally hear or see me.

I figured something like that would happen.  But this had to be in the works all along.  Why not just make the name something not related to old games to begin with? [rhetorical]

I'm a teeny little bit concerned that they're gonna focus on indie and newish games rather than true "gog"s. But just a little. I know they said they're not going to, but it's just too attractive for them, I imagine. The "old" part drew me to site more than the DRM stuff (though, admittedly, that is still excellent).

It's funny, but I feel like that game is more or less responsible for the current military shooter craze. It was more or less like Call of Duty existed to show they could outdo what Metal of Honor pulled off with Allied Assault and then, well, the rest is history.

I agree. If it wasn't for all those studios West & Zampella were involved with, MOH and COD wouldn't be where it's at; and same goes for the entire military FPS genre and those COD/MOH copycats, as well.
This all - reminds me of the overdosage of Doom wannabes and Myst clones in the 90's.

You know, it's funny & circular how West & Zampella at 2015 made MOH:AA w/ EA;
West & Zampella took many of their employees w/ them to found Infinity Ward and created COD for Activision;
and again took many of their employees w/ them and founded Respawn to so do some still unknown shooter for EA again!
Really - I couldn't make that kind of shit up!
