Alright - this is starting to get really fucking annoying.
You'll get used to him.
You'll get used to him.
My fears about the consequence of depending on online servers to allow access to what, for many people, will be a single-player experience have just been realized. While it's pretty common for servers to be slammed at launch for massively multiplayer games, Diablo 3 isn't just any other game (or an MMO). It's a game PC gamers have been waiting a decade to play. To be so close, and yet so far, is just plain cruel. And for those on the East Coast who had to wait until 3am, only to be locked out, it's even crueler.
Not really 2 of the same, though. One is for the game, and the other is for a reality check.Fair enough. I just have difficulty resisting the temptation to invoke moderators' powers! :P
What the heck is up with these Game of Thrones memes. What did he actually say? I don't remember. That's actually from LOTR "one does not simply walk into Mordor"
See, normally I wouldn't be so snarky but I have one small axe to grind here. For literally years, some people on these forums have complained about Diablo 3. From the artwork, to the online only, to the RELEASE DAY BUGS all I hear on these forums aside from a few people is bitching, bitching bitching. Look at what was written just a few posts down "Don't say thousands of us didn't tell you how full of shit you were.". Go back a few pages on this thread and yes, theres a giant argument over this game.
For years, just bitch, bitch bitch... Then the game is finally released. And what does some people do?
They buy the fucking game
at least SOME OTHER people who have been bitching for as long have stuck to their principles and just post any miniscule thing that goes wrong ON THE DAY THE GAME LAUNCHES. Least those people didn't buy the game they've spent years complaining about. So awesome job MysterD. You may bring up super petty issues to assuage your dislike for the game but at least you stuck to your guns. Which is something I can't say for some people around here.
anyways, i think i need a break from this place.
I never consider doing something I enjoy a waste of time. That always comes from other people "why do you waste your time _____ing _____s?!"
I mean I'm sure I'll always enjoy some indie games and such, but this isn't for me what it used to be. And thank God. What a fucking waste of time. I've had some great experiences, but I've also wasted half my life on mindless entertainment that did nothing but use up chunks of several resources I can't recoup. I'm regretting a lot of those years at this point. My love for the rush is what suckered me into D3, and it's most definitely a guilty pleasure, but it would be ideological issues aside. Because it's a giant fucking waste of time if you think about it for a minute. You can appreciate the great art, and beyond that, it's all just base entertainment. There's nothing grand about it. Nothing inspiring.
I think sometimes we've taken this all too seriously.
It wasn't going to change, so either you ended up playing it or not. I'm ideologically opposed to most of what goes on in the industry now which is why I'm mostly not a gamer anymore, but I felt the need after waiting a decade for this game to know what was really going on. That hardly heralds the death of anything. I didn't expect that to happen, but it did, and so what? Even 100 purchases that way weren't going to make any difference, or 1,000. This game was going to make Blizzard rich no matter what because the unthinking masses outweigh all the rest 10 billion to one. There was never any hope as soon as gaming went mainstream. It's been hopeless for years. And if you plan to remain a gamer, you'd better get used to it, because neither you or I are going to make any fucking difference in the end. Which is why I don't plan to remain a gamer.
... trivial issues in the video game industry.
Turn-based strategy game series from the Genesis days, and I guess eventually Saturn. I played 1 & 2. I never played any Saturn games.
