Remember how Microsoft acquired Skype not too long ago?
Yeah, Windows Update just gave me an alert telling me there's an update to Skype available, listed as an "important update" (KB2727727).
Interesting. Looks like they may be integrating Skype or at least Skype tech into Windows.

Really? I thought eBay had bought Skype.

Are you being a sarcastic asshole?

Oh. eBay had bought Skype in 2005. MS just bought it in 2011.

I had no idea MS bought them. Knew about the ebay thing.

I think we were talking about it in the Smartphones thread, since I have Windows Phone 7 and we were discussing how this could be hope that Skype will make it on there. It finally did around early 2012.
Anyway, if Microsoft are making it a part of Windows I don't mind at all (as long as it's optional). This makes things even better for me because Skype is actually banned here (The telecom company bans and blocks any form VOIP unless it's exclusively PC to PC. Basically they prefer it if we pay the ridiculously high long-distance rates). This means I don't have to keep using a VPN to download Skypeor its updates! Yay!
