Title: My wedding reception.
Post by: Pugnate on Wednesday, December 05, 2012, 02:22:28 PM
Shaadi/Ruksati: Wedding and dinner reception (from the bride's end) is on the 21st December. I will be wearing weird traditional formal clothes, with a turban on my head, and possibly a sword. Bride will be wearing red and stuff.

Valima: Dinner function from the groom's end, i.e. from me is on the 23rd December. I will be wearing a suit. Bride will be wearing white.

Yes, we are married, but we postponed the receptions to December so that all family etc could make it.

No it doesn't make much sense.

Yes, you are all invited to both.

No, I won't save anyone if they are kidnapped in Pakistan.

I will post pictures on Facebook.

I look forward to the pictures.

Whats with having 2 receptions? Not that I would complain. 2 times the party, 2 times the food!

I would complain. It means twice the obligations and planning.

I have a colleague doing something similar this December as well. She got married in the summer and both of them are traveling back to India for two receptions. As far as I know it's because they are from two different cities so this makes it so both sides can celebrate.

Yea it is expensive stuff. And a time commitment. The parents are doing the majority of the spending on both sides. It is a cultural thing.

It really won't be like this in the future generations to be honest. Pakistanis of today don't identify with a lot of these things. I have posted some pictures from our marriage document signing. It must be so foreign to you all.

To be honest, it is a little alien to us too, but it is fun... partying and eating. :)

I'd complain too. But then again I'm a bitter old man who hates love and people.

Are you going to be riding a horse to the reception venue?
