IGN Entertainment sold to Ziff Davis as News Corp continues to shed its digital properties (http://www.theverge.com/2013/2/4/3950324/ign-entertainment-sold-to-ziff-davis)
It turns out the rumors were true. IGN Entertainment, parent company of websites like IGN, Gamespy, AskMen.com, and File Planet, has been sold off to Ziff Davis. J2 Global, which owns Ziff Davis, made the acquisition from Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. Ziff Davis, the publisher of sites like PC Magazine and ExtremeTech, will be bringing gaming website 1UP back into to fold after it sold the site to Hearst in 2009 (the site was later sold to IGN).

I'm sure it will continue to be horrible.

Haha. I haven't visited that site in probably a decade. Ok, they do have that IPL StarCraft league now that is actually pretty good.
-
Didnt' they used to own them at one point?

IGN used to be my go to site for game reviews, I know a lot of people here preferred GameSpot, but I found their reviews to be too nit picky. Now, I don't like to read game reviews, I like seeing video reviews and I go to GameTrailers for that.

Didn't most of us regular IGN at some point? Our little group started on the IGN boards, or at least that's where I got sucked in from.

Memories...

Someone paid money for IGN?
Yeah w7re, a bunch of us started off there.

I don't really think any of them are much better than any others, these days. I watch the occasional video review to see what something looks like and get a quick opinion, but I rarely read a review. None of them seem worth reading anymore.

Went back to look at my old account on IGN (had to do a search for it, couldn't remember my password), I was 16 when I joined. So I've probably known some of you for 12 years.

It is incredible how far we've come and how much some things have changed, while others not at all :)
