Get on the hype traaaaaain!
E3 is just around the corner so I figured I'd throw up this thread here. I'll be posting news and crap when I see something interesting.
Nintendo will be kicking things off with a Nintendo Direct focused on Smash Bros on Sunday. Probably announcing DLC characters and stuff. Same day will be the Nintendo World Chamipnships so who knows what thats going to end up being like.
Monday Sony and Microsoft will be having their conferences, one will be in the morning and the other in the evening. Other companies having conferences include Ubisoft, Bethesda (DOOM will be shown!), and for the first(?) time there will be a PC conference with several PC developers showing up and showing off. That should be interesting.
Then Tuesday morning/afternoon should be Nintendos "conference" which like last year will be a video that goes up for everyone to watch.
EDIT:
Schedule breakdown! All times are Pacific time. Do your math accordingly. Or just wait for me to fill this thread with info. Whatever.
June 14th:
Nintendo (Smash Bros Direct) 7:40 AM
Nintendo Treehouse Live pre-show 2:20 PM
Nintendo World Championships 3:00 PM
Bethesda 7:00 PM
June 15th:

EA 1:00 PM
Ubisoft 2:45 PM
Sony 6:00 PM
June 16th:
E3 opens
Nintendo 9:00 AM
Square-Enix 10:00 AM
Nintendo Treehouse Live will be streaming every day starting at 10:00 AM

E3 Countdowns! (http://www.e3countdown.com/)
Today we have the Nintendo World Championships. Should be interesting if anything comes out of that. Earlier there was a Smash Bros Direct where they announced Ryu (Street Fighter) and Roy (Fire Emblem) as DLC characters, as well as Amiibos of ROB, Duck Hunt Dog, Mr Game & Watch, and Falco. I think the DLC also comes with some new stages? I don't know all the details. DLC is out now so the eshop is slammed and probably down for maintenance. Also it appears there is a 3DS app that will let you use your 3DS as a controller for Wii U Smash, which is interesting. Guess its nice if you're used to the 3DS version or you need some extra controllers for the Wii U.
Also tonight will be Bethesda, and I want to see what the new Doom is going to be like!
-
Nintendo World Championships are going on, almost done now. A couple new things came to light during the show.
Earthbound Beginnings (Mother 1) translated and released for Wii U Virtual Console. Should be available by the time you're reading this.
Blastball, which is a 3DS game that looks like a sports version of Metroid Prime Hunters. No further details on what it is or when it might be available.
Mario Maker renamed to Super Mario Maker. Apparently it looks fucking awesome from what I'm reading.
Ok, that was it! We'll get more Nintendo when their real show goes up on Tuesday.

Thanks D.
Yeah Bethesda showed the new Doom as well as Fallout 4, announced a free to play Elder Scrolls card game, and a free (totally free) Fallout phone game where you manage a Vault.
-
Fallout 4 looked pretty awesome w/ crafting settlements which can get attacked (Minecraft anyone?), weapons, Power Armor, and whatnot.
I'm stoked.
Doom!
SnapMap (SDK/Mod Tools) looked pretty cool for Doom.
SP Campaign looked like mixture of classic style of Doom (with a lot of monsters everywhere + big, open wide-areas) + that Doom 3 kind of look & style (but way better since it's for next-gen + modern PC's, obviously).
MP looks like a cross b/t Doom + Quake Arena.
Dishonored 2.
Play as either Corvo or Emily (she looks all grown up here), each w/ some of their own skills.
Raph Colontonio (Spelling?) is on Twitch w/ Adam Sessler + Morgan Webb right now - and he says there is NO CO-OP in Dishonored 2; and is coming Spring 2016.

Super Mario Maker World Championship intro (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmiL1koPETc)
Just a little bit of the crazy until the individual sections can be carved out of the whole Nintendo World Championships video. Which, by the way, is right here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9H8VcU21j4). Warning: its nearly 5 hours long. Super Mario Maker was the last game in the competition so if you want to see it you can skip way in.
Blastball intro (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JveyEU04fUA)
No details on what this really is, so I'm guessing it'll be revealed in Tuesdays show. People scouring over the footage looking for clues seem to think it is somehow Metroid related.

Awesome stuff. Thanks, D.

I was very impressed with the Doom footage. It looked a little "scripted" in the beginning but it would appear to be more open than 3 was. As much of a technological advancement as D3 was, there is something about the simplicity in the gameplay of 1 and 2 that made the game work. I'm much more optimistic about the game now that I've seen this footage.
Fallout 4 looks to be a fairly incredible game. The one thing that stuck out to me (and Sy) was the way conversations were handled. In previous games you would pick your choice and then receive a response from whoever you were conversing with. Now it would appear that you make your conversation choice and then your character then engages conversation with the chosen line. I always liked the "silent protagonist" way of dealing with conversation in Bethesda games, and it honestly looks a bit awkward here.
I am looking VERY forward to Dishonored 2. The first game was one of my top games of last generation, and despite the praise it got I still feel like it was underrated. The game is phenomenal. I liked everything I saw in the demo.

Microsoft is doing their thing at the moment.
Halo 5 trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=av-N5smXFpw)
Recore trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2xgu4QnYA0&feature=youtu.be) - Xbox One exclusive from Inafune and the makers of Metroid Prime. Sadly its a CGI trailer, no gameplay.
Dark Souls 3 was shown, but again I think it was CGI. Spring 2016, but I'm pretty sure its not exclusive.
Xbox Elite controller (http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/06/microsoft-unveils-new-xbox-one-elite-controller-and-weve-held-it/) looks like it has some neat features, for One and PC.
Xbox One getting 360 backwards compatibility, which is their biggest news. Works with "100s" of games with 100s more to come. Stick the disc in your Xbox One and if its compatible it will apparently download the compatible version for you to play. No extra costs, also works with Arcade titles. I don't know all the details yet but there you go.
Rare Replay is a collection of 30 Rare titles, including RC Pro-AM, Conker, Viva Pinata, Jet Force Gemini, Perfect Dark, Battletoads, and a whole bunch more. $30. If you have an Xbox One I think thats a must buy.

Holy shit. The compatibility is completely unexpected. That doesn't affect me very much, since I opted to keep my system, and I see no reason to saddle the One with the 360's many gigabytes of stuff. But a lot of people traded in their old systems, and this should make a big splash because of them.
The Rare collection, wow! All that stuff in one package. Neato.

Hah, thanks again, D. I was getting kinda tired during the Ubisoft one and wasn't super interested in much they showed.
But I'm all set to go for Sony! 15 minutes!
While we wait, watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elA4kE_lkiQ) and tell me that shouldn't be in the real game.
-
Mass Effect: Andromeda (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uG8V9dRqSsw&feature=youtu.be)
I don't know if I'm really excited about this or really worried about this. Love Mass Effect. Hate that "trailer" Hoping for a real ME game and not Borderlands in the ME universe. Hoping REAL hard.

I actually liked what I saw w/ R6: Siege + GR: Wildlands.
I actually liked what I saw w/ Doom (Reboot). Way better than I actually expected, for a game that's been in Development Hell + been restarted at least twice.
I wasn't honestly expected much from Doom (Reboot). Bethesda certainly delivered for me, last night.

Sony is starting! Here we go!
THE LAST GUARDIAN IS BACK! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXLZvsSmBIs)
New IP game being shown now. Horizon Zero Dawn
New Hitman game.
Street Fighter V showing now.

OMG!!!
The Last Guardian lives!!!
Planned for 2016.
-
Yeah, I'm watching that. 2016, I'm guessing PS4 only at this point. That's understandable but SLIGHTLY was still hoping for a PS3 release....just because
-
Whatever the hell I'm watching right now looks pretty enticing. Robot killing cavemen? Yes.

Horizon: Zero Dawn announced.
Basically - what GPW explained.

Yeah, I don't know about that. Not for me. Firewatch, on the other hand, seems like something I'll really like. I'll probably play it on PC but still, looks sweet.

My brain melted. Just like Kickstarters servers.
Sony was all over the place.
So, they show-off cool stuff, new stuff, remade stuff, + forgotten stuff...
...but they show-off COD: BO3 (namely to punch Microsoft), and some not-so-hot trailers for Hitman + AC: Syndicate?
Meh.
For me, BethSoft is the winner of the Conferences.
-
Shenmue 3 is already around $720,000 or so already:

So, I'm watching the Xbox stuff from earlier, on the Xbox, and a couple of jaw drops. First off, the 360 backward compat is strictly software emulation. Only a few snags need to be untangled, as well as legalities with licenses. Otherwise, they could make it work directly. What this means is that the catalog should fill up in a hurry, and digital titles will simply show up on your queue, ready to download. For disc games, the disc is the key to download the massaged digital version. Looks like the guide functionality will co,e along with this, meaning that hitting the Home button will bring up the familiar 360 guide while in these games. Too cool.
THe other was the live Minecraft HoloLens demo. That pretty much blew my socks off. It seems to work exactly as shown in the non-interactive showcase earlier in the year. The world just pops up on a real table, and through the gadget, it seems to reside right in your room. You can interact in semi-tactile form with it. It's a Windows-10 device, so streaming from the Xbox is involved.
And Sea of Thieves looks very much like Black Flag meets Monkey Island.

This thing is at a million + right now, it's over doubled form when I just checked five minutes ago.

I can't wrap my head around this, to be honest. I feel like I went to sleep and woke up 30 years in the future. So I get wearing the glasses and seeing the "hologram" but obviously the people in the audience could see it as well - is that a projection for showmanship or is that Hololens, a set of glasses and a hologram projector THAT SHOULD NOT EXIST?
-
The people in the audience only saw it on the projection screen from the camera. They attached the hollolens tech to the camera. All the audience saw on stage was a guy in funny glasses looking intently at an empty table. But that was a really cool demo. If it really works that well, it should be something neat.
Sea of Thieves looked really cool until I realized it was multiplayer and A) I'll never get to play it and B) online idiots will totally ruin the atmosphere. But it was pretty.
Sony did real well at least for my tastes. Hell, The Last Guardian alone is reason enough for me to get a PS4.

Oh, yeah, gpw. I should have mentioned that you need to be looking through the thing to see the holograms "in the room". They explained at the beginning that they were using a "special camera" (presumably exactly what idol says above) so that the audience could see what the HL wearer was seeing. They did cut back to a normal camera once or twice to show the difference.
It's a shame about Sea of Thieves being limited to online multiplayer. It looks so much like something I want to play.
-
Okay, that makes way more sense - I missed the start of that. It was like "what the fuck, you can just project a hologram anywhere?!! How long have I been asleep?!". Still cool though
-
I thought Sony did well as well, but was a bit more impressed by Microsoft's announcements - namely the new controller (which is cool and something that I imagine people with disabilities will love) and the backwards compatibility. While Sony hasn't announced BC, I don't think they'll have a problem implementing it with PSNow in very much the same way - put in your old disc and that's your key for that game on the service.

I didn't update this for Nintendo yet because I spent most of the day at the library downloading trailers and watched Nintendo live! Woo!
Starfox Zero (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6PEecNY0Sc) for Wii U looks snazzy.
Yokai Watch (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opal2gPHAD4) for 3DS. This series is HUGE in Japan. I want to check it out.
Yoshis Wooly World (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4pH7Eik7B4) Wii U looks adorable.
Mario & Luigi Paper Jam (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zI9Ic3tz2lc) for 3DS is the Mario & Luigi games meets Paper Mario.
Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CMp3UzBPWs) 3DS is like a new 4 Swords.
Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GIveAP_wtg) for Wii U looks like an Animal Crossing version of Mario Party.
Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5E_aJ0PxahM) for 3DS actually looks cool. Design houses and yards for animals! Wee!
Fire Emblem Fates (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLFB-LtKYuQ) is a new FE for 3DS.
Metroid Prime Federation Force (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGu3Xe1uUUg) for 3DS is a co-op/multiplayer game set in the Metroid Prime universe.
Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXBWAjxioSU) for Wii U. You don't need a description.
So not a ton new but it all seems pretty solid. Also showed Super Mario Maker which is like reason enough to buy a Wii U. That looks amazing.
Oh yeah, and Xenoblace Chronicles X. Release date in December. You're welcome, Belmonto.

Two guys from Larian (worked on Divinity: Original Sin) are on w/ GT TV:

Gotcha, don't buy a WiiU, I can get behind that.
I'm joking, kind of. I will say that the Starfox game looks like it was made in 2003 though
-
PC conference thing going on now. Gears of War Remaster and Killer Instinct coming to PC.
-
PC show's terrible.
Too much talking. Not enough games, trailers, or demos.
GTTV + Larian got so bored w/ it, they began showing off Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition.
-
Planet Coaster announced - which is a new Roller Coaster Tycoon type of game.
Day-Z getting SP option, which will work offline.
Mods will also be supported on the SP side.
-
No Mans Sky PC same day as PS4! Awesome news.

I got around to watching the Horizon: Zero Dawn trailer. That game looks cool as hell. Like Monster Hunter but the monsters are actually giant robots.

Too many to link but if you're interested in Nintendo games then Hit their Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/Nintendo/videos?shelf_id=0&view=0&sort=dd). They are running Treehouse Live streams every day playing things and talking about them, and then cut those sections out and make individual videos. So if you want to see more than just the trailers for their games, its all there.
That 3DS Metroid looks like a lot of fun but I don't know if it can be played singleplayer. And that Happy Home Academy looks cooler than I originally thought.
-
A Metroid Prime game where it isn't clear if you can play solo? Are you serious?
I guess you are. (http://nintendonews.com/2015/06/fans-want-metroid-prime-federation-force-canceled/)
Dislikes on the reveal video running 10-1 against likes. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGu3Xe1uUUg) GOAL!
Nintendo have totally lost their way. I didn't think I'd live to see the day.
-
As far as I know they've only shown the multiplayer stuff. This almost feels like it could be Nintendos take on Monster Hunter and they set it in the Metroid universe. I don't think there is anything really "wrong" with that, even though I think pretty much everyone that was wanting a new Metroid wasn't asking for this. Nintendo missed the mark.
But hey, it does look fun for what it is.
Watched the Yokai Watch and LBX videos and those games look pretty fun too.
-
I think as far as we know at this point there is only multiplayer in the game. This isn't an uncommon statement but I really believe that Nintendo has lost touch with not only the market but it's dedicated fanbase. It's good that they're trying, but they are so far behind the curve when it comes to developing new IPs that it's actually kind of sad. Take Splatoon for example. New IP by Nintendo, great. People like it, but it's also heavily criticized for lack of any single player content (I think?) and lack of online content as well. It seems to me that it's kind of like a circa 2001 Dreamcast game - online multiplayer deathmatch!!! That doesn't make a great game in and of itself like it did back then. Specifically, it reminds me of Alien Front Online, which is weird.
At least they're trying to adapt now, but they have to figure something out.
