Eurogamer / Digital Foundry - According to them, Killer Instinct PC port that uses UWP looks like it received a decent technical port (unlike Gears PC + Quantum Break PC). (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-killer-instinct-face-off)

It suffers a lot of the same technical issues. The game performance is directly tied to the framerate and the animations are locked to a maximum of 60Hz, so on a 120Hz+ monitor the game runs at double speed (making it practically unplayable). The workaround is to switch your monitor to 60Hz mode.
Another serious issue with UWP (Universal Windows Platform) games is that you cannot select the installation location. Like it or not it's going to install on the Windows installation drive; this is specifically a Windows Store problem. Additionally, overlays do not work with all UWP titles so you can't pull up Raptr, Playfire, Razer Cortex, or Steam Overlay.
It's cool that they brought it PC finally but Microsoft really need to get their act together with the platform. Otherwise we've got another, potentially more dangerous, Games For Windows Live on our hands.

I was really looking forward to this, but I refuse to buy anything from the Windows Store, so ... oh well, I guess.

Well, it's free but full of in-app purchases and "Season" bundles.

But using the Windows Store, yes? This is what I'd heard at some point. I assume they're making all 3 seasons available?

It's all apparently "in-app" as mentioned in the Windows Store:

There's a "Store & Collections" menu item in the game, in which you access and buy content.
Good news, recent update now links "Cross Buy" between Xbox One and Windows 10. Basically, if you already bought any content on X1 version you don't have to buy it again on PC! Yay!

I did install it last night on my W10 gaming laptop.
Where the hell does Windows 10 Store by default install these W10 Store games?

Windows Store has generally been totally broken for me regardless, so I kinda doubt the thing will even work right. I might give it a whirl just to see.

Windows Store generally installs into a hidden system folder located in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps. This folder is inaccessible.

I won a code for all the season 1 fighters and costumes and stuff on twitter back when this game was new, but never put much time into it. I've seen a few things talking about how great the game is, and how it's even got plenty of tutorial and single player stuff, so I decided to download it again. I managed to get 77% of it downloaded overnight, will finish the rest tonight.
I think the main reason I uninstalled if before was because I hadn't really been playing it, and anytime a patch for it came out it was huge.
