Title: Lynn and the Spirits of Inao canceled after allegations of intern exploitation
Post by: Quemaqua on Saturday, May 21, 2016, 12:21:24 AM
Don't think the game was ever mentioned here, but the story has gotten interesting. The game had a Kickstarter going, and people were digging what they were seeing ... then a bunch of interns started making claims about the founder of the studio and how he was running the place.

Wrote a story about it, with what little is known at this point:

So much typical human ugliness coming to light.  On the one hand, the exploitation of eager young people trying to make their way in the world--under the modern term for legal slavery.  On the other, a mindless mob calling for blood.  I can't decide which angers me more.  I knew nothing about the game, but that image is certainly reminiscent of Miyazaki's work.

Yeah, I specifically included the 2nd quote supposedly attributed to the first intern because I do agree with the sentiment that whatever went on, hate and rage isn't going to get us anywhere. We don't know the whole story, there's no need to be trolling for blood out of it. Let the law handle it. But of course the whole debacle is a shame, and a waste of what was clearly some good work by a variety of people over a pretty long period. A real shame.
