So, I'm curious to think what everyone likes in terms of Hong Kong flicks.
My favorite is Kung Fu Hustle. That movie is great. The first time I saw it, it was a crappy version that didn't have subtitles, so I didn't understand what anyone was saying, but I could still kind of follow what was going on. I watch this movie like once a month.
Hero closely follows it. Some parts are a little slow, and it seems really long, but I love the kind of artistry it has.
House of Flying Daggers was even more "pretty," but it wasn't as good a movie. It didn't help that I've only seen the English dub -- Jennie wouldn't watch it otherwise.

If you liked Kung Fu Hustle, rent Shaolin Soccer.

I did like Kung Fu Hustle. So I guess I need to watch Shaolin Soccer (as weird as that title sounds).

I loved all of those except House of Flying Daggers. Also I saw Shaolin Soccer seven years ago when it was first released in Hong Kong. My friend who was into that sort of thing brought a bootleg from Chinatown. Good stuff it was.
I wasn't surprised to see it offically released in North America.

All good movies I highly enjoyed.

Hero is probably my favorite. But I liked all the others mentioned too... I own alot of them.
-
Oh no, don't let me get started on this.....hehe

It would be hella cool if you wrote about Hong Kong flicks for OW.
-
Hell yes. I'd read that column.

I really liked Kung Fu Hustle... and I LOVED Shaolin Soccer.
Hero is great. So are tons more. Once Upon a Time in China is great. Fist of Legend is great.

Once Upon A Time In China series kicks ass.
My fav. HK flicks probably would have to be Hero & Kung Fu Hustle.
I liked House of Flying Daggers, but it wasn't as good as the other two.
Crouching Tiger was quite good, also.

If only I could share with you guys all the things I wanted to. Well, I'll try to figure something out. Like some sort of movie exchange, or something. You guys are alright with watching XVID movies, yes? If so, I'm sure I could arrange something. I know I've promised Antares at least twice I'd send him some movies. My bad, yo, my bad.

Yeah, XviD is fine. I don't really have a Hong Kong collection though. Just Kung Fu Hustle and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Just ordered Shaolin Soccer. DVD Aficionado is awesome! I selected several DVDs I wanted to order today, and did "Compare Prices." Then it automatically tells you how to order the combination to get the lowest price, and it even calculates shipping ahead of time. Awesome.

Master of the Flying Guillotine [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072913] is possibly my all time fav. You really see it's influence on todays fighting game genre.

Dude, I totally saw that by shear luck when I was in high school. My groupd of friends would rent cheesy kung fu movies every now and again and just pick them out by their covers or something. One night, that was the pick. I always remember the part when the Guillotine manages to get his weapon on a guy like a hate, then twists it off to lobe off the cap of his skull.

I bought Shaolin Soccer and watched it this morning. It was really good, but I did like Kung Fu Hustle more.

Kung fu hustle didn't really do it for me. I loved shaolin soccer. The goalie did the best bruce lee impression ever.
