Please say this is a bad translation from Russian or something....

The four people who were going to buy this game are really upset now.

I'd say it's more than 4, given the level of complaining about the DRM that I'm seeing on STALKER 2's Official Facebook page.
-
... six?
-
They will lose hundreds, no, thousands of cents over this.
Seriously though that kind of thing is bullshit and no one should buy it because of that.
-
What's next, though? All new games going to be on The Cloud?
-
... six?
HAHA!

DRM was only mentioned as a possibility, not a choice. We're still looking for a method that is acceptable for both GSC and the community!

Bethesda has already doubled-down on post-apocalyptic shooters, serving as developer and/or publisher of the Fallout and Rage franchises. That's why this rumor doesn't hold water for me: according to a Ukrainian blogger, Bethesda has purchased the rights to make a STALKER game. If this one is true, Bethesda should consider adding a mushroom cloud to its logo.
Rock, Paper Shotgun directs us to the blog of Sergey Golyonkin (translated by Google Translate), the man who first reported STALKER 2 was cancelled with the closure of Ukrainian studio GSC Game World in April. Citing an unnamed "very reliable source whom I trust," Galyonkin now reports that Bethesda has acquired the rights to the STALKER games from former GSC CEO Sergei Grigorovich. Galyonkin notes that Grigorovich retains the rights to the wider STALKER universe, including potential books and movies.
Galyonkin also reports the next STALKER game will be developed in-house by Bethesda or Obsidian (Fallout: New Vegas) using the Creation Engine and not outsourced to the former Ukrainian developers who were working on STALKER 2 and went on to form Vostok Games.
Bethesda has neither confirmed or denied the report, deciding instead to opt for "no comment."
Personally, I just don't see it. The studio already has two first-person post-apocalyptic franchises on its hands, adding a third would be overkill, even one as unique as STALKER. If anything, I'd believe Bethesda acquired the rights to STALKER to prevent any other potential suitors from creating a Fallout competitor.
