Anyone seen the "Bodies: The Exhibition"?
« on: Wednesday, August 29, 2007, 09:33:50 PM »
Bam!

My Fire Science instructor recommended people to go see this. I've read about it before, and seen things on TV. It's like $28 a ticket or something. It's in CBus until late October. I think it could be pretty cool. Anyone seen it?

I think this is the exhibit which was featured in Casino Royale.  I read somewhere that it's the first time real dead bodies have been shown in a Bond film.  That's not hard to believe.  This is a fairly strange attraction.

Damn, it's showing about an hour away from me until September 5th. I gotta see if I can get out there for it.

Yeah I went to it last year in Canada. It was unique. I have no problems with the idea that it's actual dead human bodies on display, they just looked weird. Maybe it was how they posed them.

I went a few years ago when it came through Denver. It was awesome. Very informative and VERY cool.

I've never heard of it.  Seems rather interesting... I'd be curious to check it out.  Did people like donate their bodies to science or something for it?

It was in Chicago for a while but the ticket price (plus the fact they were usually sold out anyway) kinda put a crimp on me seeing it.

By no means am I denouncing this show, but please donate your organs when you die. You would be amazed at the number of people that choose not to do so, and deny needy people of organs in the process. You are DEAD. You do not need any of your organs. Become a donor.

Anyways, /threadjack. Continue on.

I'm sorry, but the idea of going to see an art exhibit of dead bodies just creeps me out entirely.

Its not just an art exhibit. It was here at the Museum of Science and Industry as an educational thing. Though I didnt see this particular exhibit I remember the last time I was at MSI in one of the stairwells is a torso cut in slices, and you can move the slices in and out to see inside. Was pretty cool.

And I agree with Ghandi 100%.

It's not nearly so amazing when you bring religion into the equation.  As the example I know best, Catholics believe their bodies should be interred as whole as possible so that they can be brought back to life after the day of judgement.

I noticed the show is coming to Cinci at some point.  I think it would creep me out too.

Well, I'm Catholic, and I think that is a load of rubbish. Granted, I think that lots of things about my religion are a load of crap but that's another story.

Oh, I agree completely.  I'm not saying that it's a reason I wouldn't do it.  It only explains why so many won't do it.
