Cyd Charisse dies

Damn it.  I wish time would just slow down a little.  Another icon from my childhood is gone.

Can't say I know much of her, though I have to admit I love that movie.  She wasn't in much of it, was she?

Well, she was in another key scene, but she was a stunning dancer first and foremost.  She couldn't sing, and she wasn't a great actress.

That video clip intrigued me. Great dancing (and great legs :) ). As I was pondering on how much our culture has changed, I realized that I was watching the video on Youtube and didn't even think twice about it. Heh.

I know nothing about her, other than the article that I just read. Way before my time.

Things are only before your time if you allow yourself to be contemporary.  Come join Cobra and I in the old men's dept.  It's warm, and there's cigars and sandwiches on Fridays.

She's from before my time too, really.  Singing in the Rain came out several years before I was born.  But that dance number was with me from an early age.  :)

Edit:  Cigars.  Haven't smoked one in a while.

Oh, I hold no affinity for the here and now. It's just hard to escape it.

Are there rocking chairs in this department you speak of?

Rocking chairs are optional.  Recliners are generally preferred.

I haven't had a cigar in a while either.  I shared one with my father in law and his brother maybe half a year ago... we just sat around outside on their porch smoking and talking about old sci-fi books and movies.

They really are.  So few and far between, these days.  Sometimes it feels like I never get to see anybody I care about, and then when I do I'm so busy and distracted half the time I feel like I have to rush out to go finish something or get to sleep before work or whatever.  It's great when you finally manage to kick that and just... relax, especially if people you care about are there with you.

Cyd was one foxy lady. Sad to see her go, but that's the circle of life.
